Hayne at No.6 for 2011

I think the more Hayne touch's the ball, the more we are dangerous.

He is far the greatest ball player in our team and has 3D vision, and yet we sit back and complain we have no halves to get us going.

His role at fullback is also unusual. He doesnt support or run onto any offloads and his defensive positional play comes under attack. And he usually plays a no.6 role when things do happen.

So really we are wasting the fullback and no.6 position by relying on Hayne to do both.

At the same time if we are gonna field Burt next year, he has got to play full-back plz. He was on fire the last time he was there and he is safe as in defence. I dont see us gaining anything with Burt on the wing.

HAYNE AT NO.6 is the key believe me people. Take Carney as an example, he was great at fullback, but he is even better at no.6.. and Hayne will shiittt on him.

  • well maybe ur right. the team isnt working even though he is brilliant at fullback. he doesnt touch it enough. we shoukld try him there again because we got no halves and we aint getting anyone looks like!!!

If we leave things the way we are minus mateo! we will get the spoon.
  • i dont know he has the best kick return in the game on the back of a team that is full of confidence just like last year. i like him at fullback, we tried him at #6 4 a bit n failed but u might be right maybe if he stick with him there he might prevail.
  • the spoon ahahahahaha ur forgetting the sharks n cowboys i mean even though we lost shamefully to the sharks twice i wouldn't say we are spoon material
  • In the words of Gould..... no no no no no!!! (i hate gould) He will be targetted all game in the halves role and will be given no time... think he needs more time at the back and some practice on how to be positionally correct.

Carney has always been at half his whole career. he only went back to fullback for a few games as they were just settling him in at new club and hadnt played 1st grade in a long time..
  • Hayne will never play five eight. The reason he is at fullback is because he failed at five eight early last yr. From fullback he can inject himself at the right time, gets a good view on what's going on from behind the play and can roam around from side to side. Someone that dangerous needs that freedom
  • I dont know how many times we have to go through this. Hayne will not play in the No 6 again. Final.
Nor will Tahu play on the wing.
    Lets move on....
  • I agree with everything you've said, He's a natural half, and for those of you who think that last years attempts with him in at five-eight prove that he shouldn't be there ask yourselves this 'was he in brilliant from at that point', he didn't have time to develop, now that he pretty much plays at both fullback and five-eighth we're wasting a position. I'm not even saying put him there as of next year, but it is something we should be contemplating.

To be perfectly honest I think the reason that Slater is always selected at fullback for Australia is because he plays the position better, Hayne has a tendency to drift a bit and he isn't always in the right position, that's why Burt should play at fullback, true he's not as big but IMO he plays the position better.
  • hayne would have to be the worst defensive/ positional fullback in the league, let have a go at fullback again he supports ball runners and is always aware unlike hayne, if we dont sign quade cooper hayne needs to be no.6
  • Hayne is our man full stop.

He gotta step up next year, take control. Be the playmaker and even our captain or co-captain.

All the dominant players in successful teams are in the halves position and most are captains e.g. scott prince (see how many touches he got last night). Hayne should be gettn more involved.
  • Hayne has some 6 in him, but he'sa better fullback for sure.

While he can play 1st and 2nd receiver he is much better off playing in positions where his first thought is to run.

Moving Hayne from fullback to any position is a giant step backwards.
