Hawkins 6

I'm probably gonna get bashed in the comments for this. But if iongi comes back since his on emergency i actually think papalii should drop out to reserve instead of Hawkins.I feel like his matured more as a half and has improved heaps.

I don't know tho that's just my thought.

  • Hawkins is definitely a more polished half, but if Ryles really sees Joash as someone who can turn into a 6 now is the time to pump the reps in. Could just give Joash a total week off footy to freshen up the body imo wouldn't hurt

  • I think Hawkins would be the best half with Moses at the moment but that doesn't mean that Joash wouldn't be a great number 6

  • At this stage of the season, it's not all about putting the best team on the field. We're not making the 8 and not likely to get the spoon, so right now is the time to experiment. No point in going the conservative route, Ryles understands this and is using the circumstances to get the most out of a bad situation

  • We won't win a comp with Hawkins at 6. So better experiment with someone at 6 when we got our fit players

  • Hawkins is a quality backup 7.

    He isn't a 6.

  • I like Hawkins

  • Hawkins should drop out and Papali can play a few games with Moses in the halves.

  • Not a fan of Hawkins at 6. His output and involvement is terrible and is scared to run the footy. Great back up 7 though

  • Hawkins could be a 6 if you want to play a 2 prong attack. For all the people on here that say he does run enough and doesn't dig in the inline enough. Think of this if Hawkins doesn't play on the weekend; we don't win that game.  He set up fox s first try we a marvelous pass in traffic. He had a game high 4 try assists this season. How many halves have done that this season. He is still an infant in his development. At the end of the day ultimately the decision will lay with Moses and JR.

    • For me it is more the fact we are not making the finals and this is a chance for Ryles to see how Papali goes at 6 along side Moses.
His movement and link play from fullback during attacking plays has been a plus.

We have seen Papali alongside Hawkins so now it might be time to trial Papali and Moses together if Ionghi is declared a starter.

Food for thought for the coach.
