HAVE WE SIGNED ANYONE FOR 2011

This site is obsessed of recent times with WHO we are chasing, WHO we should chase, WHAT will happen if this player does this or that club does that.  I have searched every bloody blog of recent times to see if we have got any CONFIRMED signings and unless my eyes are painted on , we have just the one fellow from the cowboys who is now on the bench for WENTY.

PHIL or anyone who is in the know. Have we actually signed a player for 2011 as yet ?  From what I am hearing we are chasing RIDDELL, SHERWIN, KIMMORLEY, HORNBY as well as CRONK and ORFORD.

LETS CUT TO THE CHASE - ANYONE PUT PEN TO PAPER AS YET ?

We are not looking flash for 2011 if we dont start getting some new life into club.

  • Short answer is a "No" with an "and"

Long answer is a "Yes" with a "but"
  • Has in todays RLW we have brought some young Tongan player. Apparently he was the Under 20's Tongan skipper. Is a back rower and is big with a lot of pace.
  • then i think Ando will not be our coach for very much longer.
  • yeah and we bought him 3 years ago - Taniela Lasalo :)
  • The question begs, how are other clubs recruitment intelligence so superior to our own? so Bulldogs cleverly let us drive up the bidding and let us pay overs for Morts as there real target was Keating all along [who we offered peanuts to stay on],....We offer Watts peanuts and then Roosters swoop in with a superior offer at the end. We dont make Mateo a priority and at teh same time pay Morts at least 100k over his worth?.....what gives? The country/City match saw Keating and Hodko, our ex-Toyota Cup pair play very well with Todd Greenberg in the crowd in ready for KK's signature.....oh and the most intelligent recruiting/retention technique of all - release 4 valuable squad players in the delusional hope of getting a contracted player in Cronk.
    ?????
and what do we come up with/ every half/hooker over 30 still going around, and 1 half over 35 - Brad Drew :)
  • oh, and 37 year old brent sherwin :)
  • no one and no one
    and we are screwed
  • Why are we screwed?

I don't get all the doom and gloom. To use a favourite statement of mine - the sky is not falling.

The way I see it we have lost KK, Inu, Mateo, Caylo and possibly Grothe.

Horo has blossomed this year and can begin to learn to take Mateo's spot. Shacks will be back next year which will solve our problems in the forwards. Also if O'Hanlon continues to develop, he should provide some forward depth.

We also have Loko and of course, lovely Jono Wright.

The only possible area of concern is our halves. And that of course depends on the next few weeks. Who knows? We might be entering a rebuilding period with Humble being given a shot and hopefully Ant being given a starting spot next year.

We will have a young team, but I still don't think it is as bad as it seems.
  • Broncos have a young team and after a slow start their doing great!
  • I would be really interested to know when DA has his next recruitment meeting with the board, to me we reak of desperation, FMD i hope to god i don't hear the words "rebuilding period" from our management, we seem to be in a constant state of rebuilding.

"When you look at it that way, 1.2 is a lot. I reckon he has more in him than what he's showing at the tigers. Under Ryles he'd be a different/better player in my opinion.

"💯 I think for the most part he's had his foot out the door.
Even the defensive urgency isn't there for him anymore."
