Really confused about some of these nominations and dumbfounded that no Eels players from the '80s have been included. Kenny, Sterling, and Price at the very least should be nominated.

Dick Thornett represented Australia in 3 different sports, rugby league, rugby union and water polo. Absolute champion!
Where's Steve Ella's name?

It doesn't matter what he did in other sports, it only matters what he did in Rugby League, and Dick Thornett did not do enough to justify being nominated.
Steve Ella's career was too punctuated by injury to be a serious contender.

Surly you jest Brett were you around when he was playing .if thats your opinion I'd say you were not
Dick Thornett was a great attacker, defender, magical ball player, kicker, particularly long distance field goals from way back on the sideline near halfway, a huge walk-the-talk leader, a great MAN off the field, can easily play 80 minutes, etc, etc.
When we played the Dragons in the 1960's semi finals, the Dragons regularly ran three or more defenders at Dick to shut him down, particularly his off loading skills. He was that good.
He is one of the top 5 best back rowers and ball players in the history of the NRL, His ball playing was regularly pure genius, a real magician, up there with Arthur Beetson.
I still feel that Ken & Dick are in the top 30 best Australian RL players of all time.

Slugg & Pops, I remember seeing him play at Cumberland and over at North Sydney oval, more often at Cumberland but the NSO was a usual mud pile game, where much of the play was to force the attackers into the mud, & Dick was a classic at that with his hard defence as opponents often tried to run round him.
From memories he was also one of the classic ball players, and I doubt many today have anywhere near his skills in that area, his defence was tops as well.
If he is not invested into the HOF, and some of those other quirks get in before him, perhaps the HOF should be renmaned Hall Of Fantasies.
"No surprise here., but , now there are two coaching positions for 2 top coaches.
But
Who will get who.? What about NQ. Do they hold out with their coach and risk getting the third best coach?
Manly are going pretty good. Will they risk waiting…"

If Michael Hancock gets in I'm done....
Thanks. Just looked at that and realised.
These are just the nominees for this year, not the inductees.
As HKF mentioned those guys are all HoF'ers, they were all part of the charter class last year.
You think the hall of fame is new and our 80s players aren’t in there yet? Anyways when is Hindy getting in
While not a player from the 80's Dick Thornett is a good & worthy nomination
