If the Penrith Panthers were trying to remove the perception that they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, they failed miserably.
In half-time entertainment they selected 4 fans to compete in the "Big Ball Bash".
Essentially all 4 competitors would run as fast as possible into a giant, inflatable ball and slam into it. Surely nothing could go wrong?
Well, just ask the two that collided. One has a broken ankle, the other has a dislocated shoulder.
Surely, at what point did the Panthers staff decide this was a good idea? No one suggested that there was a high possibility of injury given the forces at play?
Anyways, the video is below for your viewing pleasure.

I wish a couple of our forwards would run with the same intensity.
Sign 'em up.
Competitors fault but a really dumb idea to run it from the game day organisers.
Wrong Ron. They didnt sign anything. Only marked it with an X!
not nice but can't help it...hahaha
One decent run and look how they finish up though!
Can the Panthers be sued? And Phil Gould approved this! lol
No, the participants signed a waiver and Gould wouldn't have been consulted on this. I'm just wondering who did the risk assessment and approved this.
