- Fresh twist in Gutherson saga as Eels skipper parks negotiations
In the latest update of the Clint Gutherson contract chaos, the Eels fullback has reportedly withdrawn from all negotiations with the club for the time being.
The Daily Telegraph reports manager Sam Ayoub is uncomfortable with the ongoing contract discussions while the club is fighting to enter the finals in good form.
The manager confirmed the negotiations are on hold until further notice.
“I have put it in writing to the club (on Thursday),” Ayoub said.
“I have just sent them an email saying that I think it is unfair on Gutho and the team to be doing this now.
“So let’s hold off on negotiations, there is no desperation, until after the club’s commitments are over.”
The Eels will want to resume negotiations before November 1 - when the fullback will be named a free agent and allowed to negotiate with rival clubs.

On NRL 360 on Wednesday night, Paul Kent suggested Gutherson hasn’t helped the firestorm surrounding his contract and future at the Eels.
“Clint Gutherson employs Sam Ayoub, he pays him to do his negotiations. For (Gutherson) to sit there and say ‘I don’t know where it’s at’... he should have a value in his head what he thinks he’s worth and what he wants to get, and say to the manager ‘if we get to this figure, I’m happy’,” Kent said.
“For Clint Gutherson to be part of this circus going on around Parramatta at the moment, when he’s captain of the club, all he has to do is put his number down to the club, get his manager to sort out the nuts and bolts of it and it’s done.
“It’s all backwards. He employs the manager.”
The Eels have lost their past three games in a row and face an in-form Manly this weekend.

Welcome to the club Joey Manu.

This is sensible imo
Really, when the Warriors have apparently offered a million a season? You really think we will offer that or even compete with Uncle Nick and his magic? He will mysteriously stay at the Roosters because of his love of the Club and premiership dreams and .....something else that we apparently won't offer but amazingly expect to compete in regards to recuitment and retention. Come on.
Club needs to start making bold plays or else we will be in the same boat for the next ten years.

True, but are you saying they have or just spinning shit. Your statement is pretty conclusive indicating Manu is coming or are you just guessing?
EE it's Scott! There is no substance.
