There is a lot of speculation as to who will win out for the halfback spot next year. Gutho was impressive in his short stint in the position but is not a natural halfback, having little experience there apparently. The Fog is a natural halfback and has some strengths that Guth does not have or are not as well developed as the Fog.
The Fog has a long kicking game and did a 57metre drop out in ISC final. He is the ideal foil to assist Norman in that department, we need more than one player to do the kicking in general play. I don't think Gutho has a long kick. The Fog is a very good goal kicker and didn't miss a goal in same final, with most being from the sideline. He also has a good long selective passing game. What I like most about the Fog is his anticipation. He looks at the play and puts himself in position to take a pass or make a tackle in critical situations (much like Hindmarsh used to do).
Both like to be heavily involved in the game, both are reasonably good tacklers and both have a good short game. Could we do better? Probably, but who is on the market?
So who gets the nod?

Fogarty is not first grade standard at this time. He may develop. His GF performance was very ordinary.
Guth will get first crack over Fog, unless he fails miserably in the first few rounds. BA has already indicated he likes the idea of Guth being a bigger defending. Guth has been a whole off season to work on improving his kicking.
Guth has already proven to be a handy 5/8. For me Guth is our X-Factor the more ball he has the more opportunity we have in attack.
did you forget we have a player named corey norman
Fogarty will be on a second tier contract
i like the thought of him in the bench as a utility
Gutho on the bench is a waste though, and honestly I don't see Fogarty playing much first grade at all, even he acknowledges it.
The fog makes Jeff Robson look like JT.
not if he plays big minutes considering there is only 6 interchanges next year he is an easy 80 minute player
