GPS AS A COACHING TOOL?

Having watched some of the world cup soccer .I noticed coaches used GPS style monitors to assess workload of players. Would that be useful to a coach to help him know who to replace or advise to put on the pace or take a breather? Or perhaps find out where they are.

  • It's mainly used for reviews. Finding out who is working hard, who's covered the most distance, involvement etc.

  • They used them in state of origin camp and I could be wrong but I think that's what them bra looking things are?
  • This is great technology and something we need. The players cannot argue the data that says they are not working hard enough, it is a non judgemental way of informing players what is expected and is measurable.
  • If BA brought it in, there maybe a few nervous nellies.

Even if it were introduced it wouldn't be available to the fans that's for sure.

  • We've been using similar for years.
