The Dyldam Parramatta Eels are happy to announce forward David Gower has signed a two year contract extension with the club that will see him remain in Blue and Gold until at least the end of 2016.
The 28-year-old has cemented a spot in the Eels’ NRL side since joining the club at the start of the 2014 season and has already become a fan favourite.
“David is very hard-working on the field and committed to his training, and sets a great example for the rest of our side, particularly our younger forwards,” Head Coach Brad Arthur said.
“He’s really come into his own as a player this year, and I’m looking forward to seeing him continue to develop over the next two seasons.”
After making his club debut in Round 3, Gower has played in every subsequent game for the Eels this season.
“I always felt I had the ability to play NRL week to week and I’m very grateful that Brad’s showed the faith in me not just to play me week to week but to reward me with another two years.” Gower said.
“We’ve got a great group of young kids coming through and there’s a little bit of experience littered in as well, and I just think it’s a club going forward for at least the next two years while I’ll be here.”
“For me personally, this year’s not over for us yet, we’ve got a big game on Friday night and then two more after that and hopefully into September.”
Parramatta Eels CEO Scott Seward says Gower has been a great addition to the Eels side in 2014.
“David is a positive influence on our team both on and off the field, and he’s been nothing but outstanding for the club since joining us this year,” Seward said.
“He has exactly the attitude we want Parramatta players to have, and I’m excited to see what he will bring over the next two years.”

Makes you wonder if we matched it or got real close.
yer real huge deal he turned down at storm.....bellamy offered him a sanga and can of coke per win in yr 1 of contract, 2nd year orange peeler and nothing more. Gower is a nuffie, his manager made up links to other clubs to get overs from eels..........................it obviously worked
The best thing about the news is that Bellyache lost out.
There is much more to his game than meets the eye, with good footwork at the line and a nice off-load.
Great news. I'm sure most fans will agree with Gower re-signing for another 2 years. Congrats Parra, well done.
All we need now is for Darcy to pull the finger out & Crappy Joe to join SL.
Terrific news - has gone from fringe first grader to being a leader of our pack.
Not sure if that says more about Gower or our pack, mind you. :-P
It's been a long time since a player knocked back offers from another club ( especially the Storm ) and wanted to stay with our club because it is on the rise. Good signs for the future.
