I'm not a massive Gus fan but his post match comments really struck a chord with me.
the main points were:
- Parra lack character and unity
- we crumble under pressure
- players try to solve it on their own and don't stick together as a unit
- he points to the "cobbled together" nature of our team and the lack of juniors who've come through the system together
- club needs to look at its development of young players and pointed to the differences in our squad v other top teams
- said Parra are further away from winning a comp than ever
- BA and he had a chat 3 years ago about the team
- Gus told him it lacks Parramatta people who have grown up in the club
It's to easy to write Gus off as a dickhead because of his brash style but he understands footy better than most and built great infrastructure in Penrith and they are reaping rewards
A strong club has strong foundations like the roots of a big tree, the ARU made this mistake 20 years ago when they turned their back on junior rugby and poured everything into the Wallabies and it's a basket case.
They were very sobering comments- seems like a team of good players doesn't equal a good team after all.
We probably need to rethink the whole footy department- worrying since we had that Review a couple of years ago but maybe the wrong people are involved.
The clubs sole goal should be a strong robust development pathway - make Kellyville an elite centre and get the best coaches involved in that system like Gus did at Penrith and we will have teams of Parramatta boys not a team of blokes from 16 different clubs with no tie to tye club.
NRL is not baseball... moneyball doesn't work, you need cohesion, teamwork, resilience and unity to win.
Hope everyone is ok this morning, didn't sleep much myself wish I could give you all a hug and a beer and cheer you up
Chin up everyone - let's stick together 👍

I am SO angry. I woke up at 5 30 this morning and sent an email to membership. I didn't mince words. If they want to be precious princesses about what I said, and cancel my membership, so be it. I couldn't stand by and cop that, and not say anything. That was not good enough last night. PS. I have followed the eels since the early 70's , and been a member since 1986. That was one of the worst "performances" I have ever seen.
Hey Mack, Facebook called and they want their cliche comment back.
Ok Boomer
Someone was going to say it. But Gen X thank you.
Tell it to your MySpace ;)
I've never said Gday ParraPete... we sound about the same age
Parramatta needs to get better footy ppl involved at the junior level and all our effort should be on building a strong foundation like nature does with a tree - it's time to hit the restart button
If the board are smart they'd be pouring their effort into Kellyville (which they are) and focus on being the best development club then the rest will be easier..... moneyball teams don't work in the NRL it's a team sport that relies on resilience and unity
It was a great speech from Gould - he was scathing but spot on . Poor Sterlo listening to it in a mix of shock , and livid ness at what he had witnessed . I thought he might cry . Even Gould said something like " it's ok Peter" at the end of it 😥😭😭
welcome back 🤣
