Getting Book Published

Hi All

I have written a book I want published. I have been told that I need an editor and/or agent otherwise book will just sit on publishers desk.

If anyone on this site has had a book published I need advice from them on how to go about it. Also need info on good editor and/or agent and publisher, preferably a publisher for international market not just domestic market.

The book is sci fi based and I know some publishers specialise in these genres. It was originally 105,000 words long, getting like War & Peace from what I have read, so shortened it to 95,000 words.

Can anyone please help?

  • Congrats on the book Glenn. I'm not aware of any book editors or publishers that deal in sci-fi. However, doing a bit of research on this in the past, I recall Penguin and Harper-Collins were good for first time authors. Another idea I've also seen raised is publishing it as an e-book.
  • Glenn Lifetime Eel: Yes, Glen I can help a little in the matter. I am the friend of Mr George Karlov who owns a run a firm that does the things that you mention. Several of Mr Karlov`s clients have had books published and some have had their books considered for film production. One or two ,as I understand it will be made into movies.

Can you give me your e-mail address so that I can send you details of contacting Mr Karlov? I don't want those details on this site for obvious reasons. My e-mail address is:glloyd 2000@ big pond .com

    • Robert your email addr must be wrong, please resend details.

  • Best of luck Glenny nice work.
  • If your plan a does not work out you can easily self publish
The main issue is publicity and getting shelf space in bookshops
But know with the net that may not be such a big issue
  • Where are you Glenn?
