Garrard’s cautious optimism for Eels
SACKED Parramatta Eels director Paul Garrard has conceded that the appointment of administrator Max Donnelly could be in the best interests of the club.
The State Government sacked the Eels and Parramatta Leagues Club board after the independent Liquor and Gaming Authority found the board had “ceased to be effective”.
“The factions within the club lived off the media frenzy that was being created to bring down a democratically elected board,” Mr Garrard said.
“The appointment of the administrator puts an end to the faction’s failed attempt, and perhaps an intervention of an administrator could in the short-term, be in the club’s best interests.
“The board clearly believed that the factions were not in the best interest of the club and in an effort to address the matter, the board proposed an EGM in August to call for a new board election.”
Mr Garrard’s main disappointment was that “good reputations have been destroyed”. He said he expected the club to enjoy success next year.
“I hope the administrator will be able to continue the work that had been begun on the NRL’s governance requirements,” he said.
“I believe with the (Leagues Club) upgrade and the construction of the new stadium, it sets the scene for great days in the future.”

Looks like Garrard has had a change of heart.
That's all this bloke was concerned about. Himself.
They had called for an EGM???? OH! for goodness sakes, how much contempt does this fellow have for the members & supporters of the eels. They were hauled kicking & screaming to the decisions, they were forced into resigning as they would not do so willingly when they knew they were dead mutes walking.
Go away & stop trying to fool yourselves as you lot are the only ones falling for this attempt of showing you did the right thing.
Here here
Over the fence likely still clapping himself.
He is pretty quick off the mark isn't he. Obviously Paul wasn't listening to the Fans or the Coach or the Players or the NRL. Really mate, This is exactly why you all had to go.
Paul your tenure as a director was a fail as you and your cronies continued to block reform.
Now your attempt at trying to air-brush your reputation to the members is simply futile.
