Talyn's work rate is far far below than Ryley's. Look so lazy in dummy half and in defence. That Sharks try was on him as Brandy mentioned. Poor Ryda suffered a head knock. Needs more lower grades games for him. Teancum Brown looks well and hopefully will be a food forward in the future.
I mentioned last year stop hating on Tallyn til he has a full pre-season. He's had that and so far not great.
In fairness to Talyn, his game had picked up in the nd half. Maybe he's been told about his performance. Hoping he will eventually live to the potential that the Eels took him in for the good of the team, as well us fans.
I found his passing straight away off the ground was better then fatigue set in quick. Too quick.
He is still only 20 hard to believe, but has had a few NRL pre-seasons now. Smith is just your simply high effort Hooker who does not have many, if any deficiencies in his game. I have said i feel he is not the type that will set up many tries but his very steady in both attack and defence, enough to win games. Which leads me now to why sign Da Silva in the first place? Why not try for an older Hooker as a 2nd string and Smith as the future?
I trust Ryles' judgement, he sees something.
I think he looked a bit disinterested to start with LB, and I am guessing he got his arse kicked by Ryles at half time for letting through the Sharks only try.
His second half was much better and he led the forwards and seemed a lot more interested. Fitness was not a problem, just attitude.....most of the young players were outstanding. I will be disappointed if Tago gets picked, even in Cup, he is very ordinary.....the only player I would judge who was out of his depth.
Number 8 (Saxon Pryke) the player that took Hopgood's jersey was very good as well, I know nothing about him but he is the perfect example of the new "battleship" size middle that are going to come more and more into the game.He is a goer and he will grow and maybe ready by this time next year.Twidle is a damn good footballer, where he fits will be a real head scatcher for Ryles and his boys.
We look as good as we can at this stage!
I will say, yes it's first trial, but their fitness in the last 5-10mins, considering the amount of ball they had is not good. Da Silva was gassed after 5mins. He needs to pull his socks up if he wants to beat Smith.
I thought their fitness looked strong. They were scrambling hard. I think TDS just didn't defend it well rather than pure fatigue.
