FORWARDS

With all the talk about our halves for next year, what is it that every good halves combo needs to be successful?

I believe they all need a good/great forward pack.

I put our forwards up and although positions might change you get the drift.

Where would you rate our forward pack compared to other teams and if there are weak links, who are they and what would be your solution.

8 Tim Mannah

9 Nathan Peats - IDG

10 Junior Paulo

11 Beau Scott

12 Manu Mau

13 Anthony Watmough

14 Danny Wicks

15 Daniel Alvaro

16 Tepai Moeroa

17 Kenny Edwards

Pauli Pauli, Gower, Terepo, Kelepi?

  • Forward pack is very competitive
    Much better than Manly's
I am just worried about Peats post injury and IDG getting on a bit
  • 1st.
Our backs have let us down for whatever and several reasons.
With more wins next year, our pack will get the recognition they deserve.
    • 1st might be a little ambitious, but I agree we can hold our own against most sides.

    • The Roosters, Broncos, Cowboys and Sharks all have better forward packs than us. We are probably level with the next tier of teams
    • Disagree. Our forwards are at the top. Our prop rotation is the best in the comp.
    • Cowboys have the best front row with Tamou and Scott. Broncos have the best backrow with Parker, Gillette, Glenn and Thaiday and Blair who also play front row. Roosters probably have the best balance with JWH, Guerra, Cordner, Napa,Aubusson, Evans
    • Out of all those packs. I would rather ours. Our back rowers are just as good as the broncs. Our prop rotation is just as good as the cowboys. Where we fall down is dummy half attack.
  • Our pack looks very physical on paper and as can be seen we've got at least four other NRL level forwards to bring into the side if injury or suspension were to hit. It's also an experienced pack now. Whereas two seasons ago we had I think just one or two players with more than 100 games of experience, we now have five players over 100 games with two of them over 200 games.

  • What I like about our pack is as a group they are really mobile which will stand us in good stead for the interchange rule changes and bring some of the bigger packs back to the field.
  • Our pack was great this year and progressed beautifully from the previous year.

Again - that stat of leading at half time or at some point in the second half of 20 out of 24 games shows that the pack has been ultra competitive.

There were quite a number of opposition players this year who commented, without prompting, how big, strong and mobile our pack is.

I think our pack is a bit of a sleeping giant and a well kept secret - much of their efforts this year were lost in the mire of some of the ridiculously stupid footy we played at times.

I firmly believe we have a top four pack.
