Forward rotation

Ok, we were lucky to get away with the win. One of the issues I believe was our forward rotation. A bench containing Terepo, Lussick and, Smith was always a concern. Not sure what Fui had done wrong and while Pauli doesn't give us big minutes he would still be an upgrade from those first three and offers something unique in attack. Lussick and Smith are plodders with slow leg speed they both averaged 6 metres a carry and offered nothing off the ball. Terepo also averaged 6 metres a carry and had a number of drops. Compared with Moeroa who had over 10 metres a carry (our forward highest), consistently ran lines without the ball, ran hard and with enthusiasm yet played very small minutes.Fui would have definitely offered more than the first three. Edwards is still working back from injury and 80 minutes seems too much at this point he was noticeably tired and ended the game with 4 errors and only 5 metres per carry, the lowest of any of our forwards. It was noticeable that our comeback coincided with Gowers second stint (assist for Hayne) and Moeroa's injection (the only chaser to sandows kick for third try). They also worked hard off the ball and added much to the line speed in defence.Overall I think we need a better rotation both in personnel on the bench and in how they are used.

  • Smith defended well, Terepo needs to improve ball control, Lussick was unimpressed with. Attack flowed better when Sefa was not involved and yes things improved when Gower came back on. Moeroa played well and should get more minutes. Sefa should be punted.Edwards tries hard and just needs more support from the rest of the forwards.

  • I think smith is a good option on the bench. Can play middle and edge and misses very few tackles. Has also improved his penalty addiction as well. Lussick offers nothing he has no impact at all. Pauli musts come in ahead of lussick next week. The other one is Fui. I think it comes down to Fui vs terepo. Terepo is quicker but has bad hands. I would give terepo 2 weeks to prove himself and then freshen up Fui for hopefully a finals impact if terepo doesn't fire.
  • A number of players were reared due to the heat as it will take its toll against the dogs Moi moi was rested
    • That was part of the point with Edwards. Tough climate working back from injury shouldn't have been left out there for 80. Ended up with 4 errors and worst impact statistically per carry. While we had fresh legs on the bench not used til the 60th minute

"Might be a with a new coach. If Brisbane miss the 8 or scrape in i reckon they yeet Madge. It would be ridiculous but can see it happening.
So could have a brand new coach there for him lol."

"He had great vision to catch Walsh out twice, but man his execution on kicks were woeful, yet fluked a try and try assist. You cannot ever win without some form of luck."
