Electric Eels stun Cowboys

Parramatta has stunned NRL Premiers North Queensland 20 to 16 at Pirtek Stadium in a game that could be costly for both sides with Eels hooker Nathan Peats suffering an arm injury and Cowboys prop Matt Scott placed on report for a crusher tackle.

Parramatta captain Kieran Foran was a no-show at training on Monday morning as the Eels continue to manage his hamstring injury in the early stages of the NRL season.

Just two days after making a solid club debut in their impressive upset of reigning premiers North Queensland, the Kiwi international was a notable absentee on the training paddock.

The Eels are managing the workloads of the former Manly star who has already admitted he is a week-to-week proposition for coach Brad Arthur as Parramatta prepare to face Canterbury on Friday night.

One player who isn't likely to face the Bulldogs is teammate Nathan Peats, who injured his elbow in an attempted tackle on bullocking Cowboys forward Jason Taumalolo.

He faces up to six weeks out, however second-rower Tepai Moeroa predicted a quicker recovery.

"It wouldn't be six weeks. Hopefully he's back soon. He's our voice in the middle," he said.

Bench rake Kaysa Pritchard, veteran Isaac De Gois, or former Cowboy Cameron King are all options for coach Brad Arthur for this Friday's blockbuster against Canterbury.
