In the article below from Zero Tackle, it states that Brisbane had interest in Ferguson leading to that interest now wavering due to salary cap concerns. Now Parramatta will offer Ferguson a new deal at the end of the year, keeping him focused and get him to earn his stripes for a new deal.

It all boils down to whoever will be potentially replacing him can do a better job. He carries the ball back harder than Sivo who seems to be hesistant or reluctant to smash out of a 3 man tackle. He might do it when he's one on one but not when he's about to be gang tackled. He turns his back whilst Fergo goes looking for PCM's. Fergo doesn't get pushed back, Sivo does.
Grunts, watching different clubs that are doing quite well, both riff and some others a bit below us, they are not afraid to bring in players that are young and not proven, one hears a lot of reports as to the latest new audition, eg Suaali is said to be making his this weekend for the chicks, with big wraps and not having played in the NRL as yet.
When the eels bring in a player from within the system and is young and does not set the field afire, in his first game, let alone run, he's put down, too slow, cannot defend, cannot do this or that, without really given a chance by the fans brigade, condemned before he puts a foot on the inside of the run on side line. Dunster has copped that, Penisini & Russel not far from it either, especially if they get a call up. While Jakob Author did well, he still had a point where he was showing fatigue then a try, so he is OK now but what going ahead, especially when the FFF is pointed at him and any other young player with the eels.
None of the 3 I mentioned played any RL team matches last year with the exception of Dunster who was given a late call up and played one game.
Sivo makes excellent yards from the back too. He only gets pushed back when he's got 3 and 4 tacklers in him. That creates space for the next ball runner though.
agreed re Fergo though he is so good at finding the best space to run into to get a quick play the ball. It's a real art form.
Which games has he list for us ?
Lov what brings, confidence to others, angry pills, gutsy runs from inside our 20, experience and a willingness to do the hard yard time and time again...
BUT
I did say a few week ago he was on a pair of 50yr old knees and carried butter on his arms. He does some really shocking things at times, like really shocking.
To move him on Penisini to centre and Waqa to the wing. Is Penisini ready? Well not according to most on here. Is Dunster ready? Same answer!
So...what to do? Keep the fella and hope for more diamond games or let the rock go?
I don't think we can afford to carry him next year if Waqa stays inside him.
But I just love the way he can finish a backline move, pin his ears back and smash 3 defenders to touch down from outside the sideline. That sort of stuff is irreplaceable.
BA and Co have tuff decisions coming up
Experienced, slightly broken, capable finisher, who basically plays as a prop forward inside our 20. Sure he's not what he was but I'm not sure who's on the market that would better.
He's certainly athletic and tough enough to go around again. Not sure why people are saying he's busted. He's still extremely quick and has good lateral movement. Plays every week.
Wingers are paid to score tries. Finishing is very important and Fergo does have a propensity to drop a ball cold. Hasn't cost us a game yet but just a point to note.
If we can reach a deal I'd have him again for at least another year. He's still one of the best wingers in the game and we don't have anyone in our club better.
There's no reason why we couldn't offer fergo a year to year contract. It's a simple fix, he is doing enough to earn a new contract easy
If we do give Fergo a year I'm very sure it won't be at $500k after watching the Morris twins run around for $230k, he's great the Ferg, he's been bringing the ball back like browny lately, give him another year, and medical retirement if he doesn't produce,
I hope Ferguson stays on a year to year basis depending on his body.
His carries out of danger are possibly the best in the competition, he works harder and puts his body on the line more than Sivo but Sivo gets all the attention due to the quantity of tries he scores.
I would love to see Ferguson play on the left wing for a few weeks and let him soak up some recognition.
