FDA: Pre-game notes vs Cowboys

Hello 1Eyed Eel fans,Just wanted to drop by before I start making preparations for tonight’s game. I am sorry I haven’t been filing through regular updates last few days but I admit, I’ve been feeling the pressure of late.As you’ve probably read, there are a couple of directors gunning for my back - Lyn Wallace and Joey Saad. Pfft. Lyn Wallace = token female director who is on a power trip because we’ve got a female, red-headed prime minister. And Joe Saad, who’s only on the board to sure up the Lebanese vote at the next election.Now I know this is going to sound self-serving but I’m surprised you Eels members haven’t asked more questions about that old P3 promise that the Football board was going to get back control of the NRL side. It all sounded rosy at the time but then as soon as the family grabbed control of both boards, that promise just fell by the wayside because the status quo entrenches their power structure. After all, it certainly doesn’t make any sense for paying members of the Rugby League club to have a say in the future of the Eels, much better for it to all rest in the hands of the legion of pokie zombies.Which is why we have mongers with no idea about football, who get to prance about behind my back saying I can’t coach.Any who, I’m trying to stay focused and leave the politics aside. Obviously a big game tonight. I was going to sack Morts this week, but then I get this case of Mortimer Wines show up on my doorstep. So I sit down to do this week’s video analysis with a couple of bottles of the Jules Shiraz and you know what? Suddenly, the kid didn’t look half as bad. In fact, half way though my second bottle, I’m thinking this kid actually can play. By the third bottle, I’m telling the missus he’ll be playing State of Origin next year. So if we’re getting a beating tonight, break out a bottle of Jules and I promise everything will look better. Ossie reckons the stuff works a treat as well.I’ve had the missus over Jarryd’s place doing in his washing, ironing and also making the bed, so I’m pretty confident Haynzey is primed for a big one. You could see from his Origin performance, what a relief it was to get those chores off his back so I think I’ve finally tapped into his psychology, or lack there of. And just to make sure there was no issue with me and the bros I had Sharpy give the boys a little Hawaiian Hula this week, complete with grass skirt and all. Thought Sharpy might baulk at that one, but he jumped at it. I do worry about that bloke, sometimes.Anyway, think we’ve had the best possible preparation for this game, so I think you can all rock up to the match tonight feeling pretty confident. I mean, fuck me, if we can’t beat the Cowboys, even I’ll be starting to wonder if I can’t coach.
