  • That was some nice vision by Moses to switch the play against the Tigers. We haven't had someone who can dictate is around like that in a while.
  • Elliot seems like a great bloke who knows his footy, it's amazing how he never seemed to work out as a coach.

A mate of mine had a drink with him at a pub once and said he was one of the nicest blokes you would ever want to meet.

    • Agree Al - I met him in the bar out the back of the Cronin Stand a couple of years ago and he is a great bloke. He's good on radio too.

He didn't do great at the Warriors but then again who has? :)

  • Pretty to watch!

    • My bad, still a great sight having two halves the are sort of clicked. Norman's game against definitely changed when Moses has come, the pressured has been eased off him.
      • I think Norman liked the pressure and wanted to run the show.
Don't think Norman is ready to be the dominant half week in week out.
Hope Norman and Moses can get along and be happy because they will make the best half combo in the game
        • I meant the pressure of the opposition attacking him at all times, as he was our only attacking option.
          • Mitchell loves the short side (Blindside?) play it is his pet play. The other teams no it but struggle to defend against it.

    • I agree HKF. That was a great bit of analysis by Elliot.
That switch just speaks volumes doesn't it. This is a side that has its stuff together. They're right in this comp now that's for sure.
  • Moses just gives us so much. Long kicking game, good running and passing, eyes up football and not over structured. Even Norman has becom quite structured IMO, possibly due to being the sole organiser for most of last year and some of 2017. The best part is our right side is a genuine threat in attack for probably the first time since the early 2000's. We have a half who can create chances there regularly, which opens up the left side as defences can't purely line up Norman. The best part of Moses is his ability to quickly see an overlap on the short side and go there. He takes off and the defence is under huge pressure because he can himself go through the line like last week. That type of play cannot be prepared for, trained for or looked at in video because it takes one weak tackle, one fast play the ball and off we go. There's no way to prepare because it happens too quickly. It's fabulous to watch and it is more of the footy of years gone by without structures, just playing the numbers game like you do in the park. Without Moses we wouldn't be a chance of the top 4. Norman needs to lift but I fear that the theory of him cruising along when he has a great/dominant player next to him may continue (Hayne 14, Moses 17). He thrives as the sole half/playmaker (15/16) but seems to take the foot of the pedal now that Moses is here. If he can get that mid 2016 form back we can really give this a shake.

"Same here, MW. Both give us more depth, firepower, and starting options.
Ryley is ahead, but TDS has wheels you can't coach, and an unknown ceiling worth developing and being patient with."

"That decision is ultimately why Ryles gets paid the big bucks. You also have to manage workload. Sure, we could ask Ryley to play 80 every week, but that would likely lead to his impact dropping and becoming less valuable to us."

In our well-justified praise of Ryley Smith, there is a big thing being missed: his ability to read the game and footy IQ.
He is a couple of plays ahead and anticipating every move both in defence, primarily at present, but also in setting up the…
