Some of the more positive people might be pleased with our efforts last night, but I’m not.
The commentators kept talking about the effort and how the Eels were trying. So what?
Effort is expected. It’s the minimum requirement for professional sport. Effort costs nothing.
What this team is lacking is skill, composure, discipline and that X-factor that separates good teams from the rest.
Our recruitment has been terrible, and we all know it. At the moment, we probably have one genuine elite player in Jack Williams.
Players like Moses, Junior and Foxx are playing like shadows of their former selves.
And this is where I think the culture at the club needs to change.
To have lost as much as we have and still come away talking about how proud we are of the effort is part of the problem. Effort should be the starting point — not the achievement.
The expectation needs to be turning effort into results. Turning results into consistent performances. And ultimately, Winning — and winning big.
That should be the expectation at the Eels. Sadly I don't see that changing anytime soon.

It's having the class on the field that matters, effort will only get you so far. If 8-10 of your top line players are basically gone for the season you will be in trouble
Yeah effort isn't enough, but it is still good to see it. If you didn't we have more issues than just the roster. Last night shouldn't have came as a surprise with who we versed. Not saying that means we accept it, but it would have been worse in a game against someone below us or near us.
But you have a fair point of this shouldn't be an expectation. Trying but most of the time aren't strong enough, fit enough and aren't athletic enough. It can be that simple.
If you were to blame the coaches or the players, but why can't we catch and pass. Complete a 2 on 1? Got world class winger with speed to burn catching a cold 🥶. We need a top line sc coach asap. We need an alpha middle at a minimum. I would like to see at a minimum ryda and lokene get a good in the next 2 weeks. Give them motivation for the off season. Our roster is the worst in the comp bar none.
Fitness plays a huge role.

If you haven’t heard, Offside, the person running the club has already been sacked. Now we wait and see who comes in to replace him.
And let’s be honest — Parramatta are looking at Matt Cameron, Cameron George or, at the absolute minimum, Paul Richardson.. We should absolutely be spending the maximum on a top shelf ceo.
A new CEO won’t come in just to keep the same old structure. They’ll bring their own people, their own ideas and their own standards. O’Neill and Rodgers might as well start updating their résumés now.
Change is coming. It’s years too late — but it’s finally happening.
You can preach composure, discipline and resilience all you like, but with the roster the people now being shown the door have built, we’d still be staring at a bottom-six finish.
So if anything, Parramatta fans should be celebrating the ousting of Sarantinos. In my opinion, it could prove to be the best thing to happen to this club in a decade.
Have a beer this weekend and enjoy the thought that, for once, something is actually happening at Parramatta.

Moses just isn't a player for the situation this team is in. If we somehow pull some quick moves and sign some high quality players to put around him next year then he will bounce back. He just isn't the kind of player for the trenches. It's not a knock, he is the cream on top.
Fox is slowing down but he is trying, he is a finisher and needs his opportunities which are not coming. I'll never knock him, if anything he is trying too hard.
Paulo is a joke now. You see how Papalii is treated and how Papalii treats his club. That's what we should get from a forward leader. Junior is trying to get 2 mil out of the bears instead of figuring out how to give more back to the Eels. He got stopped at the first point of contact almost every time last night. He is a mid tier, experienced role player now.
