Effort improved but lacking execution.

A much better game defensively from the side, and few of the younger forwards starting to look more at home in first grade. The attack but still very clunky and missing Moses. Lomax work rate was amazing shout out to him but for the most part happy with what they dished out.

We looked better with Hawkins directing the team. The line speed was pretty much there all game which was pleasing to see.

We didn't let a team that a lot of people think are top 4 material make many metres at all.

    Lomax. Wow.

    Fox got a hit out.

The younger players are starting to find their feet.

    Negatives

Still frustrating though. It was there to win.

Lane and Brown? Seriously? You've played on the same edge for 6 years. How do you look so lost.

Horrible contact on their first try.

    Few costly errors.

Critta taking a deadset dive and getting an absolute bs penalty that changed the game.

We need a bloody win and next week it gets harder.

    • The ref should be embarrassed. He got outsmarted by Crichton two times.

    • Agree with all of this, liked lussick in the middle to. Ryley smith Katugoa and tauviti all showing good signs to. Will be an ugly season but need to get the young players good minutes and clean out all the players who are chewing up the cap

      • The balance of our side is much better with Williams in the middle. I know he missed that terrible tackle but gee he worked his arse off in defence.  Him and Hopgood in the middle leading the line speed was so good to see. Can't remember the last time we had line speed that good for that long.

Throw Moretti into that rotation and I think we are onto a winner.

Paulo had more of a go.

Kitone definitely has upside. He looks like he can tackle much better than Kelma.

I hope Latu can get developed into our left edge because Lane is done. Bench middle at best these days.

  • Isn't that what we expect from the $1.2 million man? He has to be dropped or let go. Not interested and doesn't give a shit.

    • Brown looks checked out already and Knights are insane for paying that. Doesn't even look like a half atm

  • Our halves need to link up more in attack. We are using hopgood/paulo as that linking middle too much and is making our attack too predictable. Second half we looked best when these two were hitting the line hard and looking for the offload/changing direction.

  • 2 points to take into account

    1. Dean Hawkins debut, and we have a new half's combo,

I'm not surprised Dylan fell short, that's the type game an elite takes head on and rises to the occasion!! I'm glad Dylan has  signed elsewhere. Now time to offload him and get a couple of replacements with the right mindset and attitude

  • People who say the effort is there must be taking medications. If that is the effort, God saves us mainly against it.

  • Negatives.

We look unprepared we start games slowly the first try was soft as your missus titties.Consistently changing combinations is killing this team we have to get settled. We lost.If Burton & Kikau play we lose by 30.Mahoney is laughing his arse off now seeing how far we've fallen.

Positives.Good to see a consistent kick chase first contact was a lot better outside of the Williams brush that gave them 6.Effort the lads tried hard but came up short.Need to build off this against a better opponent next week.

"EA i hear good things from both Funa-Iuta and Petrus, do you see both getting starting time in Flegg? Maybe not Petrus right away as he has another year of SG Ball eligibility but Funa-Iuta could be a shoe in to start in Flegg next week?"
