Eels V Dogs 3-2-1

3 Points - Mitch Moses Led the team around superbly, had a hand in everything, kicked for near 800m

2 Points - Will Penisni  Ran hard making 7 tackle busts

1 Point - Jack Williams  Topped the tackle count with only 1 miss. Played the full 80 minutes and was everywhere in defence.

Special mention Junior Paulo with 169 odd metres from 55 minutes with 64 post contact meters

Well done boys, a great win that not many saw coming including myself. Well done Ryles to get them back focused nd what a great way to honour our 86  champions at the game.

    • He was good wasn't he, I suspect Ryles had a quiet word with the leadership group this week

  • Great result after the tough last round. I didn't see today's game, but happened to see team stats produced by NRL site. I don't wish to pour cold water on this win, however, it appears we only won penalty count and scoreboard. I'd be interested to hear anyone's thoughts about the importance of winning the majority of game stats for achieving a win on the scoreboard. What do you think was key today for securing the win?.

    • You need to watch the game to get a clear understanding.

Our effort was great, our line speed, kick chase was all on point.

Players given an oppportunity held their own or played above expected.

Hopefully we have seen the back end of a few players, Pezet, Kautoga and Tualagi with Kelly surely soon to follow.

      • Yeah watching it shows the effort and contact we put in.

  • 3 moses

    2 willy p

    1 - junior/fox

  • How did Paulo not get 3 or even a point for you BE?

    • EA that's a good point, I'll explain it like this. Junior played 55Minutes, had an 88% tackle efficiency, Jack Williams played 80 minutes, topped the tackle count had a 97% tackle efficiency . With the way our team has been terrible in defence of late in the forwards,  I leaned more to Williams having a huge defensive impact on the game. Junior had a big attacking influence on the game. In this instance i went with Williams.

Im not a fan of Penisni either but his strong running again put us ont he front foot and that's not normally like him so he caught my eye and gave more then he normally does.

Moses got my 3 points , kicking for 800 odd metres turning the dogs around. Was instrumental in so many things that happened .

There was no more room for Junior except to give a special mention. I'm happy though if others give him the 3 points. I just did a quick check. Moses received a game high 68 fantasy points, Junior received 38 fantasy points, Williams 53points and Penisni 54 points. Fantasy points takes into account all the good and bad with their contributions / their on field performance and spits out the points. All 3 of my selections appeared to score higher then Junior's. Not saying that that is improtant but it's just a metric  that backs my opinion a touch.

I want to put a star out there for JDB, he showed remarkable resilience hanging in  there after appearing not wanted.

He still has a lot to offer and I think him starting and Williams coming on was a bif change up in our resolution.

PS please do not include Pezet back in this side, we have no loyalty to him, so lets not be detrimental to the players that are staying with us,

Credit to Adam O'Brien, he certainly can not get that Dogs attack firing consistently.
We need to further improve our defence to beat Manly at Brookie.
Great to see a game flow for once.
Solid debut from Pryke. "
