Broncos a far better side then parra so temper expectations 😂
I feel Papalii was really thrown into the deep end. Playing 5/8 when you have barely ever played their in a struggling team with rookies in the spine without the proper half back. Whilst I do not think Papalii is a 6 even after a pre season, the bloke was given minimal chance to succeed.
I think moving too fullback will help him a lot. Finally get some confidence of being an NRL player. Playing in his natural position which he killed in pre-season and during NSW Cup this year. He still may get first crack at 6 during pre-season. While I do not think 6 will work out, the upcoming weeks will be good to test him out to see if is a good backup fullback. I think he will be electric at the back and the club know it. It is why they have been trying to squeeze him into the side somehow.
I think Ryles might still persist with Papa at 6. But for now he is our best fullback after Iongi.
Plus Hawkins is doing alright and its a chance for Ryles to see what another potential 6 can do.
As people said, only weird one is Simonsson. I can see a late change there though.
How is Russel in this team? Simmonson would swap sides to be left centre with JAC outside of him since Pensini is a right centre.
You could tell Lomax and Simmo had no defensive combination since they have not played together before so surely thats not the reason he is out of the side?
I've no doubt Simmo would come in for Russell come matchday
Defensively tho the current 2-5 has been performing great. Simmo would also needs to build a combination with addo-carr
Not sure the 2-5 have been "performing great" from a defensive point of view? The outside backs have leaked 20 thern 28 points in the final 30 minutes of each of the past two matches. Panther Ball is basicxally 1) rely on back 3 to ruck it out, and 2) tunnel ball so long as the ref doesn't penalize them. It seems Ryles has went for the first half of Panther ball, the back three rucking it out, but I do wonder if it is burning them out and they're toast late in games?
I think the two weakest of the 2-5 defensively last 3 games or so have been Lomax and Addo-Carr, the two best.
And I think the changes inside them and just how good Penrith and Canberra were impacted that too.
Our edge defence has gotten better this year.
I believe it is very obvious the hit up works of both JAC and Lomax, as well as the defence of 2-5 is taking its toll. This has been excenuated by the inexperienced halves. No reflection on the non selection of Brown, but his absence in defence is still a big hole to fill.
We need a defensively strong 5/8 to compliment Moses, one of the reason's of Moses injury proness has for at least some of his injuries been doing extra defensive work. WE need to protect Moses more if he is going to bring the benefits.....I would be making an offer "way to good to refuse" to get Douehi, thats right for all you budding financial planners out there.....he is the player we have to have to replace Brown and compliment Moses.
Pops how can this hit up athon from our back 5 be taking its toll it's the back 5s main job to take heat off our middles that's what they are there for pretty much.
Lomax much like To'o are in the same boat but I don't see burnout from the latter. If it is true and these guys can't handle the battering we need better options there.
I can't get with the burnout thing when in all essence it's between the ears.I bet if we were winning this just isn't a discussion. The defense is a symptom of continual change same same 3 years in a row that's what 's hurting most you can't get consistency if you keep chopping & changing combinations and pretty much through injury mostly we are where we are.
PS edge defense has dropped off in the last month and it's bad time for it in the run in to the end of the season.
Why would he change his mind Yehez, is there an agenda in such a move?
