        • I think the two weakest of the 2-5 defensively last 3 games or so have been Lomax and Addo-Carr, the two best.

And I think the changes inside them and just how good Penrith and Canberra were impacted that too.

Our edge defence has gotten better this year.

  • Wtf.Ryles losing me if he persists with Russell. Not Nrl standard.Simmonson far better in all aspects.

    • In other words, you have NFI.

  • Simmonwas terrible last week.

    • That edge got torn apart yeah but I'm sure Bailey will force his way back in eventually. Ryles going best defensive combinations he can v broncos electric outside backs

  • With Iongi injured I was expecting to maybe see Simmonson shift to FB and Papalii kept at #6?

I guess this tells us a few things?

    - Simmonson has not dispolaced Penisini, which is wierd because Penisini has regressed a great deal

    - Just how sold on Papalii at #6 is Ryles, given that Ryles had the chance to sub in another outside back at FB if what Ryles really wanted to do was run Papalii at #6 for as long as he can? Maybe "first opportunity" was Titans R16, Panthers R19 then Raiders R20 and now Footy Dean is being given the "second opportunity" at #6? What is odd here is that Hawkins is prone to a really high pass to run ratio (eg: 10 means 10 passes per run), and that's not really what you would expect in someone being trialled at #6?

PS: for frak's sake the Eels cannot take a trick this year, having over 20 rounds (17 games) only had their first choice spine (Moses, Brown, Iongi, Smith) play together SIX times (Tigers, Sharks, Dolphins, Knights, Panthers, Dogs)

    • They still seemed undecided today on how they would replace Iongi so most likely this team could change by kickoff. Would be difficult for the broncos to plan for us because no idea how this side is going to lineup lol

      • LOL, I don't think the Broncs will be too worried about our lineup come game day.

  • I actually think Joash will suit our style of play better than Iongi at 1. Iongi's biggest weakness at 1 is his support play. Time and time again our forwards and halves make line breaks which we inevitably bomb because of poor support play. With the way our forwards are linking up, we need someone lurking around the middle. I suspect this is where Joash may excel and may put in a big claim for 1. However I've said it many times I think Iongi will make an excellent 6. If Joash kills it at 1, Iongi's future may lay at 6

    • Going to be interesting to see how Joash goes at fullback, Reynolds will no doubt target him with kicking game so hopefully he's up to the challenge. No doubt he'll be fine in attack.
