Parramatta Eels hope to reverse result in Battle of the West
13/07/2010 4:05:17 PM

The Pirtek Parramatta Eels will take on the Penrith Panthers in a Battle of the West this Saturday night at CUA

Stadium.

Coach Daniel Anderson has named a full-strength side for the match as the Eels look to capitalize on their 36-24 win over the Cowboys last night.

It has pushed Parramatta within striking distance of the top eight, however the Eels now face the in-form Panthers, sitting second on the
ladder with a formidable record at home.

“I’m very happy that I could select the same team from the previous game because it was definitely an improved performance,” coach Anderson says.

“In the pre-season the Panthers defeated us in the Battle of the West Cup comprehensively so we know we will have to work hard to get a win at
their home ground.”

  • Big game. C'mon Parra!
  • hmmm

must surely be some doubt about MK given the nature of the injury, and also question marks on Robbo and Benny

Guess they'll have til thursday to prove their fitness

naming a team on tuesday after a monday night game is always a cut and paste job
  • A couple of wins over the next couple of weeks will do wonders for our confidence.

I don't really like our draw for the rest of the year but if we're good enough to come through it then we well and truly deserve our spot in the finals and we'll be entering the important part of the season with the form needed to go all the way.
    • we do lift against the top sides though, and most of the teams we are playing coming up are in the top eight.
  • I note Brendan Oake has not been named in the Wenty side, which I presume means he is 18th man for the Eels to cover Benny.

Did anyone see the Wenty game before Parra?
  • So Tahu is back next week right? Not sure I can stand much more of Wright.
  • Please someone tell me that Wright is not playing against the Panthers.
  • Jennings vs Wright = Big Trouble for Parra. Hayne better have another blinder cause Panthers have plenty of points in them when they fire up.
    • I think Jennings is back on the left now so he will be up against Reddy who also had an ordinary game last night but is a proven defender in big games containing the likes of Inglis in the past.

""Chance is mist" is a really appropriate typo/autocorrect. The chance just goes pfft, evaporates into nothing. Not sure Dylan B has got the mix right this year, more often passing when he should run or running when he should pass. "
