If someone could get the link working it would be appreciated. It's behind a paywall.
Just more of the same in the article, Analyst.
'Parramatta management is refusing to release any key details about their pursuit of a new coach.'
'Influential figures at the club are split between Hannay and Ryles.' - A direct contradiction to sentence above.
None of the candidates are fully aware of their chances and none have yet been formally ruled out. - A direct contradiction to both sentence 1 & 2.
So the Telegraph is simply using info from Josh Hannay, who mentioned on radio he's going back for another interview.
The Parra board can't organise a root in a brothel. Bunch of clueless bums. They had Flanno available and now look what he's doing at the Dragons who had the worst roster in the league.
He was part of it Coryn.
A massive part of it.
I agree, the board are a problem. But Arthur was a problem also that needed to go, not the only thing but it is a start. Yet BA and everyone else mentioned were able to get us to a GF in 2022. It was a great job by all, but did not adapt and now the board have shown their inexperience with this process as they came in with BA already there from the 2016 cleanout.
The board need a reality check and shown some comments that have shown they have had a little bit of that. But BA was still a problem that needed to be ractified.
It does matter as if you get rid of the board Arthur is there. I am not disagreeing with you that the board are an issue, just saying Arthur is at fault too. Basically what you are saying is every coach needs systems to work. Ok fair enough, but if every coach has that all coaches win? Then what is the point of saying Bellamy and Bennett are superstar coaches?
This board and MON still got a squad able to get us to a GF. Flanagan won in 2016, Cronulla done nothing since. Sheens won in 05' with Wests, nothing since for them. Manly won comps with Des and nothing since he left, he came back and it did not work but still won with him there. Paul Green won in 15' and a GF in 17' nothing since. They obviously had good systems why didn't they carry on? They had good coaches. Great coaches can get it done.
What i am saying is it is best of both worlds. You need both great board and great coach. Which i believe you know that. But Arthur overall deserves some blame for what is happening, the board and players also. When we win it is a team effort across the board. Same with a loss across the board.
I do 100% agree we need new voices upstairs also, influences too.
Well it happened in NFL. Look at Tampa, their front office was dragged through mud as being bad. They bring in Bruce Arians and Tom Brady and win a Super Bowl. Lose Arians and go backwards even with Brady even though he was declining it happened quick as the coach was a big factor. But Jason Licht the GM is now seen as one of the best in the business when you look back from start he has actually done a great job. He had crap coaches coaching the players he signed and drafted.
Bennett didn't use the pathways at St. George Illawarra, he bought a host of players over. Nathan Brown built the squad and couldn't get it done. Bennet comes in and wins it. Bellamy has had a great Melbourne system that is fair. But Sheens won it at Wests which has always been a basket case in their 25 years existence. Cronulla, Flanagan was able to get them there with using young players with Bird from Dragons and Feki from Warriors systems before debuting at Cronulla.
Not saying what you are saying is completely wrong the pathways were set up, but still need that great coach to get them to next level. BA was not doing that for us. Look at Walters has a great setup and showed last year was a fluke, they are not performing there for him now.
But that last part that board to move on first is right, you are right and have said that. Just the coach needs blame on there also and the players.
Liverpool bring in Klopp and start doing very well. Now it is different in soccer due to budgets being dependant on the owners.
The good GM's like Polian said the best way to build their teams is through the Draft. The Glaziers who own Tampa have said the same they build through the Draft. We have a great nursery and been neglected. Early 2000's was a time we had some quality juniors come through.
Still need a great coach to bring them along, the board need to hire them but you say no matter who they hire it doesnt matter. Tampa hired a great coach in Arians but failed with Smith and Koetter beforehand. The Glaziers before hiring Licht had Dominik who was not good and he failed with Morris and Schiano. Would you say the owners are an issue? For those times yes but the coaching was poor on top of that. The GM hired bad coaches but managed to hire a great one, that coach then campaigned to bring in Brady and there you go it worked for that year. Then you have New England who went backwards once Brady left and Belichick started drafting worse and worse, it was Brady who masked the deficiencies. They still had the same back staff and owners and went backwards.
Same with Liverpool, weren't doing well with Brendan Rodgers, sacked him and same people brought Klopp in and had success. Now if they had better backroom staff maybe he would win more than he actually did but Klopp won with the same staff Rodgers failed with.
All the pieces need to work. I agree you need the board, coach and players are going at the same rate for success, but sometimes great coaching can overcome it.
But the board if they are to redeem themselves must start in the pathways and work through there of course. The current juniors we do have have been developed poorly lately.
Speaking of NFL Coryn, who do you support again? Isn't it New Orleans?
