              • So Petrus was the only junior they were there to see? How many juniors from other clubs have PNG signed? They have so far signed Johnston, 33. Luai, 31. Watson, 32. Lees, 30. All over 30 when PNG enter the competition. They are also looking at Williams, 32 and To'o, 30. They are getting older heads and using their local grown talent that live in PNG already.

Not saying he wont go, hell i reckon at some point he might after a few years decide to do it. But for an early part of his career where a bunch of players are going for 2 year deals for a good pay check then getting the hell out of there it seems. Nobody is signing long term deals. I think you will find a lot of players, like Petrus, might wait and see how the franchise goes after a couple of seasons before commiting.

Could be way off and he has signed with PNG to honor his heritage. It makes sense and wouldn't be surprised but now PNG are looking at SL and London Broncos, as they have an influx of PNG players over there. There is a reason players are only signing 2 year deals, are in the back end of the careers going there and no top notch juniors aren't seen going there or linked to go there.

But also, Ryda Talagi's family got close with Penrith when they signed Blaize and he decided to stay at Parramatta.

MON has said a lot of our top juniors are signed long term, let's see if he is telling the truth.

                • Whats up your nose. Didn't say the he was the only oneGrimma was there to see . Only said what i was noticing between and both parties. As I said only saying. Give me a break

                  • I was just responding to the idea that it suggests he’s likely heading to PNG early. At this stage I still think PNG are mainly targeting established NRL players and shorter-term deals in the early years, so I’d be surprised if a young junior commits that early.

Not trying to have a go at you, just discussing it.

Plus you saying 'Just Saying' leans towards you believe it to happen.

                    • Could be but I don't know and neither do you . Maybe he will and maybe he won't. Time will tell

                    • I think at some point he will play for PNG. But i think it could be when he is like 28-29. Towards the back end of his career and perhaps achieved a bit. I am not certain many players will go there in their prime. The franchise at this stage is to unknown due to how lives will be over there.

Players could live in the compound and love it and more players head over. Or most will hate it and those who go will sign for short term as they earn tax free money and play NRL for an opportunity.

As to why players who have already signed only did so for 2 years. Testing the waters, sometimes the tax free salary could be too good to be true. The media and podcasters that went over there came back buzzing about it. But also, they were given the best of the best treatment for a day. Will that be the case all the time for these Chiefs players?

I still think PNG will be a mitigated disaster. But all remains to be seen and we don't even know Petrus' contract status at the moment.

                    • Yes it's all in the lap of the Gods time will tell

      • Kitione, Su'A, Funa-Iuta and Petrus are more than fine options as edges. Add in Williams and Latu who could contribute there.

        Blore is unnecessary.

        • Su'A and Kautoga/Williams are the edges for next year. Petrus pushes for 2028 starting.

Very interesting year for Williams and Hopgood. Both off-contract, with Koina, Talagi and Petrus coming through and all three being 21 in 2028, does the club let Williams and Hopgood walk to usher in the kids, they will be cheaper too.

I think that is the eventual plan. A forward pack of:

          8. Tuivaiti

          9. Da Silva

          10. Brown/Talagi (the other on the bench)

          11. Su'A

          12. Petrus

          13. Koina

    • Chief, like the avatar by the way mate.

I mentioned Shawn a while back; he would be decent but I would assume going to Wests / Us he would receive too much $$$$ if I am being honest - but its the work ethic and aggression - he is also an old Lethbridge Park kid from years back....

      • Yes thx Mitchy.  I was just talking about the dragons recruitment as a whole,  they've picked up a few games changers.  I just hope we get someone.

"Coryn, good shout.
He could also fill in at seven. What puzzles me is he has not been snapped up by an NRL club yet. Now. Dunno why. Is he wanting a pay day and 3 years say? Some clubs may baulk at that. Why? "
