David Sharpe played and coached for the Canberra Raiders before moving into the role of culture and welfare officer for the Kangaroos.
He was also the assistant commissioner of the Australian Federal Police, as well as the CEO of Sport Integrity Australia and Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority [ASADA].
Through his work in those roles, Sharpe has been awarded both the Order of Australia Medal and the Australian Police Medal.
In a statement released by the club, Sharpe expressed his excitement to begin the new role in Perth, as well as his vision for the formative years of the Bears franchise.
"Perth will be a club that players and fans feel privileged to wear the logo," he said.
"I’m honoured to be part of what Anthony and Mal are building because the Perth Bears will put fans and community at the heart of every decision.
"The game of rugby league has given me and my family so much and now it’s time to give back."
