If the Eels are to really threaten Penrith and pull of the big one and break the longest premiership drought and win the premiership then in my opinion they need to avoid:
1) As reading media hype as less as possible.
2) Try and keep it low key
3) Avoid public relations media interviews etc..
4) Prepare big time and find the Panthers weaknesses and exploit them.
5) Practice high ball catches
6) Train the house down but also rest.
7) Be mentally tough and switched on
8) Take PT47's advice

low key media just wont happen mate - Listening to Billy Slater , Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler, they were all saying you have to embrace it , you have to enjoy it, they all found that was the best way to deal with the week with media - fans - expectations etc.
A quick look at the Eels week and mate it is hectic. Carnival Breakfast tomorrow 9am -11am Kellyville training grounds open to all fans, Dally Ms Wednesday night, Wednesday 1pm Players at FanFest Martin Place , Thursday 12pm Fanfest Grandfinal teams presentation.
And thats just a couple.....
PT47 taking your advice is like going to a Nazi book reading!
LOL
1. Acknowledge the media with how big the game is and how long it's been since our last title. Denying or avoiding it isn't going to make it go away. Brian Smith had the guys that wound up they weren't relaxed at all. I think BA is pulling a great move by using the bush coach reference and taking the front of pressure for the boys. He seems a calm influence around the group and maybe him not being so up and down with his emotions he keeps the boys the same
Some of these guys may never play in another GF again. Soak it up and appreciate the ride. As Phil Jackson from the Chicago Bulls era quoted" focus on the journey not the goal". Embrace the whole week. They've prepared all they can. Keep the workout light but focused. They know what they have to do and know how to beat the Panthers. We just need the refs to allow us to play
I'm not suggesting the Eels ignore ALL media responsibilities but be selective and if it's possible to avoid some then do it.
Do you actually think they do any media they don't have to do ?
Possibly, don't you
Point 3 shows your ignorance. The players are required as part of their contracts to do media, even in a regular season game, to say nothing of GF week.
Brett, has absolutely nothing to do with ignorance or knowledge but is beneficial to improving the teams chances. If laying low is an advantage then pursue it.
