“It is understood the chasing pack is led by Parramatta, who have targeted Staggs as the man to fill the spot in the centres vacated by Michael Jennings.
Jennings remains provisionally suspended after failing a drug test and the Eels need to start planning for the future. Staggs is seen as the ideal replacement, although the Eels face competition from far and wide.”

Brissy I understand that Brownie has an option in his favour for next year, how that pans out regarding the coin is a bit of an unknown following the reduced amount as agreed with players and the NRL. If his agent is shopping him around at this point of time its either to get a feel of interest as a bargaiing point for him, in saying that he turns 28 this year, so heading for the elder statesman status, however he is still good enough for another 2 years. MM is also on a PO for next season, which he could take up and that would also depend on how he and Jake Arthur goes in his first season.
TBH, I am not too worried about losing both of the wingers, Fergo is said to be training to the quality of his first year with us, but any injury would hamper him, I also don't believe that Sivo can reproduce the basic unknown shock factor that he did in his first year here, I could well be wrong on both counts though.
I would love to see Staggs at the eels, if he is in front to come here, my guess is that its likeky that MJ could well be gone, if that's the case & based on what I have said above that we could have 3 backs needed, Staggs takes one spot, and the other two spots I would say Dunster would be a big look in there along with possibly Opacic and Waqa to the wing.
Nathan Brown had an option for this year, which he obviously took. There is no option for next year. He is genuinely off contract. The players with a 2022 option in their favour are Moses, Matterson and Jennings (pending a proven contract breach). The player with a 2022 option the club's favour is Hipgrave. Those are the only four options for next year.
Other options for future years are Dylan Brown and RCG (player options for 2023) and then an inexplicable club option for RCG for 2024.
Thanks Pou for the correction as I had not really looked at the lists so far.
That would be a yes to Staggs, for me. But has he got himself into strife up there in QLD?
I really hope Brown takes up the extension but we do have plenty of cover for his position.
2019 Sivo I woul keep but 2020 Sivo can go. Not sure why we would release both Sivo and Fergo when we have no one better and we didn't try for JAC. Hopefully we are chasing Coates from the Donkeys.
I would try to keep Moses for the right price.
Staggs is a big yes. He was involved in a minor altercation and was served a breach notice from the NRL that will result in a fine.
What I want to know is what implications will arise from Isaac Moses finally getting the boot.
Sounds about right brissy.
Id love to see Staggs at the Eels. Id also like to see Nathan Brown continue an extension with the Eels. I agree that the 2019 version of Sivo far exceeds the 2020 version. Hopefully Sivo in 2021 will be the same or better than his form in 2019. I also hope Mitch Moses continues with the Eels. The more consistency the Eels have with the playing roster the better except for players that have to be let go for either extremely poor like Corey Norman.
Not going to get my hopes up about getting Staggs, I really hope we do.
I hope the club holds firm on Brown, he can take it or leave as far as I am concerned.
Seems sivo is asking for more than he is worth, needs a big year imo.
Coryn you may be interested in this.I don,t know a whole lot about Ben Ryan, but this unknown Coach of the Fiji (,s in the Olympic games did a wonderful job with the style of play with the Fijian team.I agree there is a lot of talent over there
Coryn my favorite saying is if you want to be a master at what you do copy the greats --exceed them and then have others try and copy you. Wouldn,t it be nice if our club checked out something like what you are suggesting and lead the pack for innovation---checking out talent from other non-traditional recruitment spheres to see what's available and what other codes do and take some risks with setting a new agenda on how to play the game..I feel the game can become stagnant when we are copying predictable playing styles without any risk-taking with exploring what other things may be available. I think Jack Gibson was a pioneer in doing this type of thing
