  • Moretti surprises me but very good.

  • Good, good. I'd heard we were talking to Sam a little while ago. The fact we're preparing a deal means we must have reached an agreement that Sam is likely to accept.

Great that we're talking to Jack for an extension. Only just turned 30 and he's been super reliable for us. Hopefully he can stay on an edge next season.

Luca is a little surprising given he's still seemingly trying to nail down a spot and we have good middle juniors coming through. That being said we know what we've got in him. He's now got more than 50 first grade games so hopefully we see him really grow into his position.

    • Moretti is a great backup, who can come in as required and do a job. He won't be in the top 17, but not everyone can be.

      • I am not sure that he wont be in the 17, Ryles does like him, but again i would not be surprised if he is here in 2028 and sittting behind some juniors. I do wonder if the extension is only a year til 2028? If so then yeah makes sense having him at the club and he needs to fight off Talagi, Brown, Nunn, Koina etc for spots then 2029 those kids are more experienced.

I am not a massive Moretti fan but he's alright. As a depth option, great player to have. Regular, relying on him in our rotation for future? Not sure on that. He is only 27, so he can grow further. I just feel his ceiling is being a decent first grader, like Oregon Kaufusi is at Cronulla perhaps. Gets good game time throughout the year but you are not putting him with pen on the team list.

Sorry to make my comments so long winded ahah.

    • I agree as i felt Moretti, like Doorey, would be here for 2027 as that depth option with experience where if say Hopgood goes down for a week, you can bring either in no worries.

Ryles obviously loves him as Moretti was extended right after Ryles got hired.

  • One of those 3 guys has to step up this year. The ramifications are there we've got Lenui locked up for 4 years he needs a running mate Sam Luca Teancum or Ryde there's a crop there but we need someone to step into the breach Jnr is about to leave in 28.

I really hope Hopgood is the 13 and Jack moves back to the edge.

    • We need koina to develop quickly,  hopgood is on his last legs imo, hopefully he proves me wrong but it has been 3 seasons since he last had a good one, all those injuries catch up when you get around that 30 years old mark.

      • Hopgoods just has to stay injury free that's what's holding him back.

If they keep playing him at prop I agree he's got no future there.

        • yep he is not a battering ram. He needs to be at lock to be fully effective. Needs that offloading game back too.

Koina will hopefully back his debut next year and everyone will see why many here rate him at a top 3 prospect at our club

          • I don't know why but i have this feeling this time next year we are all seeing Koina as our starting 13 in 2028 and demanding he extends. With Hopgood off-contract and a younger and cheaper option, probably one of the best middles for his age, behind him Hopgood has limited room for error.

What is more intriguing for Ryles, Rush and co come 2028? A soon to be 29 year old with hot and cold seasons with injuries and form? Or a 21 year old considered one of the best juniors in the country coming through? Of course Koina needs to hit the ground running, but i feel we have so many younger middles that if Koina is either not ready or good enough come 2028 and Hopgood goes we will be able to bring another decent player.

EA, out of all our juniors would Koina be #1? He obviously is your #1 forward we have. Side note, it is nice for once getting a kid from interstate with raps and they seem to be working out.
