"He doesn't, he would have applied for it only recently knowing he has the job. It can take a little bit of time, even if fast tracked. He could get it next week, next month or in new year. Just do not know but he should have it very soon."
J'Maine Hopgood is off-contract at the end of 2027. He is free to negotiate come the end of the month. He will be 28 come next year. Over the 4 seasons he has been at Parramatta, Hopgood has only managed 62 games, on average 15 games a year. So just…
"I certainly seems that way. Whatever happened, Beech is pulling the strings, and in a good way. We haven't seen that level of competence from the board for a very long time, if ever."
"Why does he still have visa issues!"

For now he is number 1 only because Bell and Seuseu are stilll very young
rewatched the U19's Origin last night, seeing Koina. Man he was great in that game. As you can tell, i love Koina haha.
I understand why they moved him to prop, his ball playing at lock was atrocious after coming back from his back injury. There was a few of us on here pleading for them to move him to prop to simplify his game and that worked.
He should start next season at lock but if his ball playing is still off in the first two rounds then moving him to prop is the only option. I would rather move him to prop than Williams if it came down to either of them.
Yep if he struggles then move him back to prop but don't resign him.
I hate any suggestions off moving Williams out of the backrow
The only reason people are suggesting moving Williams is due to Su'A, obviously, taking one edge spot next to Moses. Then you have Kautoga on the left with Luai where he is comfortable.
Can Kautoga be an impact forward? Sure i guess. Though i would not be surprised if we see Williams at Lock or Prop and Kautoga is the other edge starter. Not saying they should do that, just what i think Ryles might go with.
As ruthless as it is that's what successful clubs do, no room for sentiment. If hopgood isn't playing near his best do not give him an extension.
Which is where the club may have shown their hand with talk of Sammy T, Williams and Moretti getting extensions, but not Hopgood. Well as of yet.
Yeah i agree he should start at Lock. He made Origin playing Lock. As you said he was moved to simplify his game and it worked.
Though i wonder what the plan is for 2028 onwards since Hopgood is off-contract in 27'. Do Parra extend him for a bit more money or do they go with Koina who is cheaper and could be better player in the long run? Rush mentioned how much he values pathways and bringing talent into FG to avoid losing them.
Also, i do agree he is a better fit at Prop than Williams who is the clubs best back-rower.
For me it's a no brainer, Williams and sua as starting edge forwards, if you want to play kautoga off the bench and use Williams as a middle for the latter stages of the game fair enough but Williams starts on an edge for me and I would not be extending hopgood unless he returns to near best form which unfortunately is unlikely as he has been plagued by injury and is older.
Please don't think I'm shit caning hopgood, I want him do do well, I'm just not optimistic about hos chances.
No no, hey I agree. As a club we need to be smart. Hopgood's body doesn't seem able to go through and entire year back to back. Koina seems like a similar player but is a bigger body to be a better ball runner and is cheaper.
Just smart management. I know 28 is not that old, but if Hopgood was like 23-24, you might keep him.
