Eels get the draw of a top side

Just looking at our games played we have faced Storm Panthers Dogs Raiders x 2 that's half our games for the season against top clubs. Not including manly who we have also faced twice. The nrl views the eels as a ratings draw and puts them in big time clashes problem is the club right now can't compete with these top sides. You'd think the nrl would scale the draw so top sides face each other more often and the lower ranked teams at least face each other more. Just my thoughts lol

  • Side note they also force us to play the bunnies every indigenous round and storm rd 1 every year who basically never lose.

  • My thoughts too.

  • We've had the most home games out of any team.

Somehow when bush arthur was coach, he had the easiest draw for 10 years

    • Brisbane would be either slightly more or equal

Broncos got 14 to our 13

    • Home games are fine but why is the team that has run 14/15th past few seasons facing the Storm and 4x premiers twice 😂 dogs about to play Storm first time this season

  • I get the frustration but at the end of the day a soft draw won't win you a premiership. We either get found out during the regular season or we get found out during the finals.

If anything we learn more from facing the top sides and learning where the benchmark is.

    • It won't but nrl should scale it so teams that finish at the bottom face other teams around them twice the next season. To see if they can build momentum instead of feeding them to teams who chew them up. Still have to play them once at least to test themselves.

  • Yeah fair enough, but then you'd ask yourself how would the NRL know that the dogs were going to be a top side, or even Canberra ..

    • Dogs made finals last year, just base it off who makes the 8 the previous year tbh. I do get that dogs panthers tigers manly are kind of rivalry clashes but no reason eels have to play storm twice every season.

Super — the "bridging player" idea is an excellent description. It slipped my mind, but I will probably add that in later giving you credit."
