Eels farewell departing players

The Parramatta Eels have bid farewell to four players following the conclusion of the 2021 NRL season.

Blake Ferguson, Joey Lussick, Michael Oldfield and Sam Hughes will depart the Eels to pursue other opportunities.

General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill thanked each of the players for their contribution during their time at Parramatta.

“These players have made a significant contribution to our club particularly Blake Ferguson who has been part of our squad since 2019.

The past two years have been challenging for all the players and clubs in the NRL. The commitment of these players during that time is commendable.

“We thank them for their service and commitment to the Club and we wish them all the best for their next stage of their careers and lives. There will always be part of our Blue and Gold family”

The Eels will pay tribute to the contributions of these players who will be officially farewelled at the club’s end-of-season Ken Thornett Medal.

  • Sam Hughes, any news on why he is leaving ? Farewell to the others.

    • Just a suspicion that he will go back to Cronulla, where he was a junior with,

I think it was inevitable for the other 3 to also go, and I think there will be at least one more to go in Rankin, although he could stay as a CC player depending on how much he is on. A lot of this is to clear some money for upgrades and perhaps a new signing. Eels don't have a lot of wriggle room for signings.

    • He had some personal issues at the start of the year.

  • I can't quite bring myself to thanking Oldfield, but to the other 3 lads, thankyou for your contributions and best of luck.

  • All the best to the four.

  • Can't believe Arthur is letting Ferguson go, he loved to chase the collision.

    All the best Fergo.

    Scott

    •  All the best to the four going. I thought Fergo should have been given another year. He would have made first grade easily. I enjoyed watching Fergo in most games,

    • Piss off scott

  • No not the Goat Michael Oldfield.

Sam Hughes said really he had every wrap on him and just dissapered.

I suspect players like Russell, Rodwell will join the top 30

    • Rodwell is a must, hopefully he has the guts for first grade, could be as good as Reg.
