    • How do you know he won't make us worse?  We had a good backup half in footy Dean.

  • Dumb arguments that are trying SO hard to find logic behind what is a clearly poor decision.

    1. They say Pezet won't block the pathways of existing players. Wrong. He will be taking a years worth of 1st Grade experience away from someone. And that someone could be someone who wants to be here for more than 12 months.

    2. They say the reason people are up in arms is because this hasn't been done in 30+ years. Yes, there's also a reason that you don't find dog poo on restaurant menus - because it's a bad idea.

    3. We're not a premiership threat, we are in a rebuild. Being better for 12 months is pointless - we need to build towards being continually better year on year for 3+ years. They say "hypothetically if Parra win the comp next year"...yeah, that hypothetical ain't happening. Premierships are built over years, and this is a build year where we're wasting one of our most important spots on someone who will not be here.

    4. They completely ignore the fact that Ryles chose not to play Dylan Brown for the majority of the season because he was leaving. He chose to sit out a clearly superior player to give our longer term bets experience. And now he's literally paying for someone to backfill Brown who is also leaving at the end of the season.

    5. They then cast doubt over both our juniors AND the Moses/Pezet combo. Both valid points, and both highlighting the absolute stupidity of our R&R staff who have spent the last 8 months since Brown signed at Newcastle stuffing up every opportunity to land an alternative. We have wasted 8 months, and now this Pezet dumb deal gives them latitude to waste ANOTHER 12 months with inaction and failed deals.

    6. The absolute dolt then says "stop whinging and embrace it". Ummm, no? "What do you want?" A club that makes smart, professional, strategic and forward thinking recruitment and retention decisions. A club that gets the people they want like the Storm, the Broncos, the Bulldogs, the Panthers...the teams actually winning games with superior rosters.

I'm not going to apologise for not wanting to accept mediocrity. I said since BEFORE BA was sacked that until we change our R&R staff we will not be able to be a competitive club long term. This has further highlighted how correct that assessment was.

We are a member run club and unless us members whinge when our club makes dumb decisions we will continue to have the longest losing / no premiership streak in the game.

I'd like a premiership before I die, so sue me. 🤷‍♂️

    • You don't think we are better then the dogs, raiders, warriors, sharks and other teams who made the 8 if our full 17 is on the park ? I think we will smoke them 😂😂

      • I don't think we're even remotely close to the Panthers, Broncos & Storm. I think we'd be pretty heavy underdogs against the Sharks, Raiders, Dogs, Warriors and Roosters too.

I don't think we are even close to a premiership with our roster right now. It wouldn't even be in the conversation for 2026, it should be a build year.

        • Those 3 yes, clear favourites but you never know with injuries or random drops in form. Even the slightest chance the eels have to capitalise on last years strong finish. The dogs went backwards dramatically to end the season. Raiders choked and lost Fogarty, warriors no Metcalf and don't rate them anyway. Sharks lose Ronaldo next season and just getting old. The opportunity is there have to try

          • Well at least your off the "pot" and expressing your own opinions Eli.

I'm proud of you and hope your right. I think we can do better than we did last year, which gets us in the 8, that said this is not a good start.....it reminds me a little of 2018 when we had such a promissing prior year and dopped our bundle......I "desperately" hope we have not damaged the positive aspects of Ryles and his team of coaches have brought to Parra.

PS Careful when talking about "smoking them" Randolph hears that talk and immediately gets a "hardon".

      • I think we can be competitive on our day with almost any team in the comp for the most part.

Teams I think we'll have real issues with are the more physical and athletic sides Canberra Roosters Storm Broncs Sharks Warriors Panthers.

We need an absolute mongrel in our fowards Radley Sua Tino type.

Class at centre or 6 to break a game open.

We can't afford to lose Lomax back 5 is so important and the mentioned is the leader and we need more consistency in selection on the left side.I hope Gideon Kautonga takes that next step he's the type of athleticism we need on the edges.

        • Guys like Kautoga, R smith, Iongi, Moretti and the other young players are only going to improve adding Pezet to that gives us a extra nudge. The main key is keeping Moses on the field a long with Lomax ado Carr and our main guys. While some of these other teams are getting older and beat up from years of long finals runs we can definitely make some noise

          • I think the key is growth.

Growth is winning without Mitchell if we can win without the mentioned then I think this team is ready for the next step.

Growth equals like we all agree on is seeing our juniors take that next step.

For me any sought of improvement over last year especially defensively will see us in the 8.System improvement combinations improvement is also a sign of the mentioned.

        • Im not sure what to expect from a guy like JDB but I like his work in the middle and it will tighten up our defence. Just a lot of positives with this group heading into 2026
