EAGLES, EELS EYE WOODS

Manly and Parramatta have made a play for prop Aaron Woods after he was told by incoming Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon he isn’t wanted for next season.

The Sea Eagles and Eels have both spoken to Woods this past week as they seek to bolster their respective forward packs for 2022. Fitzgibbon had a face-to-face meeting with Woods to let him know the Sharks were “moving in a different direction” next year.

Woods, who is in the final year of a three-year deal worth $600,000 annually, is understood to have offered to stay at Cronulla for just $180,000 next year, but Fitzgibbon was clear there was no space for him.

Woods, 30, can expect to earn more than $200,000 wherever he lands next; a big pay-cut from where he’s at but still enough to keep him in Australia and attempt to reignite his career under a new coach.

  • Aaron Woods and Shaun Lane as our front row,, what a pair of terrifying Nancy's . The rest of the comp will be in hysterics.

  • Surely not Sharon?

    No thanks

  • The Warriors are shopping Ken Maumalo around, parramatta should offer him a deal, to replace Blake Ferguson, at 112kg, he and Sivo would give us plenty of meters from the back.

  • B.A does like his baragain basement type players and the challenge of turning them around!

  • I would take him on the cheap.
A good bloke who players like and fits the no dickhead policy.
if we had prop injuries he could fill in and go a job or provide some bench time.
Nobody thought Cartwright was worth a contract either.

  • eels interested in Cartwright - outrage outrage outrage

eels sign Cartwright - outrange outrage outrage

Cartwright has a big offseason - eels fans now party carty style.

    • Not sure Carty party is on yet. Yes he is playing good footy tradesmen like. Bit to prove yet.

    • I will honestly say I was on the Carty Farty side and not the Carty Party side . At this stage he's proved me wrong .

  • Woods will love it at Manly. Well I hope he does.

Eels might be running him up so Manly have to pay more.
