Eels exit race for Sandon Smith

Parramatta have reportedly dropped their interest in signing Sydney Five-Eighth Sandon Smith. The decision is based on the club placing their attention to other options, mainly in house optoins including Joash Papali'i.

Now i do believe they are looking at Papali'i and even in future Talataina, although i also wonder if there is a target that Ryles is looking at that he knows or might know is available that is not known as available if that makes sense. I don't know, the club is very good at keeping information in terms of recruitment sown shut. Anasta did let slip slightly of a target Ryles could be interested in but stopped before he said the actual name. I would put money, not a lot, on us still signing a 6.

        • Not if he has a bad year after his rookie year. Hopgood fell into the same category, I like the kid but don't ruin it this early. You will just end up disappointed and turn on him like everyone on here does when he has an ordinary game.

        • No rush, kid has said he loves it at Parra, if by this time next year he's still going strong then extend by doubling his salary.

  • Unless someone pops up out of the blue, it looks like our major signing for 2026 will be one of the oldest players in the comp who's long term club no longer wants him ....

    • Best thing for 2026 would be Moses playing 23+ games 😂 be like we've signed a superstar

  • If Joash was genuinely our future 6 he'd be playing 6 this weekend. Like Coryn my mind is made up Katoa is who we should be throwing the kitchen sink and dishwasher at.

  • Hawkins at 6 until we can sign a gun five eighth.
