Parramatta have emerged as the leaders in the race for promising 20 year old rake Tallyn Da Silva. There is a chance for Da Silva to leave Concord by Monday for the June 30 cut-off period with the Manly Sea Eagles, Newcastle Knights and North Queensland Cowboys all interested in the Western Suburbs junior. Da Silva met with Jason Ryles earlier in the week. There was talk of a swap deal being presented by the Wests Tigers that would have seen Da Silva go to Newcastle with KPP, Tigers bound in 2026, heading to Wests early. That deal has reportedly fallen through.
All the clubs bar Parramatta that have expressed interest in Da Silva have a coach that is under pressure. Da Silva is considered one of the most promising Hookers to come into the game in a long time, just turning 20 and playing 21 games for the Wests Tigers.
Parramatta being favourites should be no surprise considering our cap space and chance for him to start right away. Manly are the next best option, with manager Mario Tartak having numerous Manly players on the books already including Haumole Olakau'atu, Jason Saab and Nathan Brown. However, Tartak also has Josh Addo-Carr, Matt Doorey and Toni Mataele at Parramatta so the manager connection is just as strong at Parra than Manly.
Manly also have a need for a Hooker immediately with Lachlan Croker, Jake Simpkin and Gordon Chan Kum Tong not meeting the standards to be consistent Hookers for the club. NQ have a hole with Robson leaving but not til 2026 and Newcastle have a hole with Brailey moving to Canberra and Crossland now being seen as a Lock forward.
If Da Silva signs with Parramatta and is granted the chance to join immediately, he will start in Round 19 v Penrith.

Sorry to bore you Frank, allow me to make way for your news worthy blogs that you do not publish.
LB, grow some thick skin, not a stab at you moreso the rumour.
99.999% of signing rumours on here are either Chinese whispers, exaggerated, false or outright fantasy. Some even claim to have inside Intel 😂😂😂.
If I had a dollar for every signing rumour I've heard on here or other Parra sites, I would've had enough coin to buy the Eels by now and you'd be calling me the clubs savior.
That's ok LB, by all means blog about signing news but don't expect everyone who is more than double your age to fall over themselves with excitement. I've seen and heard it all before mate
Frank don't comment if you don't like it. I apologise if I went too strong, i regret doing that.
Water meet Duck
All good young man.
I'd say let them battle it out.I think from the beginning it's Smiths job but that's not to say TDS doesn't have a chance to beat Smith out.I wouldn't be handing any job over straight to a new rookie let the best man win.
Coryn I am not saying this meaning I dislike Smith as I do and would be happy with him as the future. But signing Da Silva would be for him to start. No need to go for him if Smith is the future.
That's why I let them battle it out I wouldn't just hand it too him,say here it is.
What we have to remember we want the best team on the park not by reputation not by numbers but guys who have to fight to win the spot.
If your saying to Smith we've got TDS and there's no chance of you being the starter if I'm Ryley Smith I'd for fill my deal and leave as you can bet he wants to be a starter.
Oh of course Ryles will let Smith prove himself, it's how he did this year in trials. But Ryles has obviously seen enough of our Hookers to go for Da Silva, as he has Starling and Brailey in the past. If Smith is the answer why go for a 20 year old Da Silva. Had we got Brailey then fair as Smith goes 14 for 2 years or so but Da Silva will be seen as a 10-15 year player
We find ourselves in an interesting position.
Moses is at his peak but getting older, we've unearthed a potential future rep fullback but losing our rep 5/8.
Good football teams need 3 points of attack .
Either we replace our 5/8 with a gun 5/8 or we need an attacking 9.
Whichever way Ryles goes we need to strengthen our pack to give everyone a chance to develop together at speed.
We have an enormous amount of room in our cap which allows us to make significant moves in the market.
We need one of our promising young halves ready and firing for first grade by the time Moses hangs up his boots.
If we end up with TDS and he realises his potential as a rep standard 9 Moses becomes a little easier to replace.
The young spine we'd have now excluding Moses would develop together, some of rugby leagues greatest rugby league teams all have that in common.
Ryles and the recruitment teams job would be to give them a pack thats aggressive with go forward and an ability to give them time and space.
Im more bullish about where we find ourselves then most at the moment because of the sheer speed our salary cap position has improved.
Recruitment and retention becomes the main focus , it looks like we've got the quality in our coaching ranks,
Exciting times.
