Parramatta Halfback Mitchell Moses and Centre Zac Lomax are being earmarked to be picked for the upcoming Pacific Championships. Both players have never represented Australia, Lomax is set to get a Wing spot, while Moses is expected to partner incumbant Queensland Halfback Daly Cherry-Evans.
Moses' selection comes with Cleary and Munster both being unavailable and NSW Five-Eighth Jarome Luai pledging his allegiance to Samoa.
Overall it is great for both players. I understand the point about Moses since he missed most of the year through injury, therefore should focus on 2025. Though at same time we cannot stop him, plus he may never get the chance again to represent Australia. Cleary and Munster are the Australian Halves when fit. DCE is getting older, so maybe there is a place for Moses in the squad in the future but no guarentees.
As for Lomax, it will just make him a better player with the big game experience.

Moses has represented Australia.
I am not counting 9's.
Wasn't it just that prime ministers game for the encouragement award type players ? I reckon I almost was selected for that team after I was seen playing against the kids one weekend on the beach.
Yeah he's played PM's XIII and 9's. Other than that he has played Lebanon, NSW and World All Stars (If you count that as rep footy, Luke Kelly back in the day would be selected by simply putting his hand up).
I don't like it. Moses has been unavailable all year and a fair chunk of last year . Hes needing a nice offseason and shoudnt be off galavanting risking further injury sooner than needed. He goes down playing a game that he hasn't really played his way into , for his own personal interests and our 2025 season could very well go the same way as our 2024 season. Whilst it's great for him he's in contention ( only due to others not being available ) , I think given the money our clubs paid him for 8 games this season , he should be saying thanks but no thanks, I'm still not 100% fit , my interests are being fully fit for 2025. I'd kinda get it if he was the incumbent . But he's not , he's a bridesmaids , Bridesmaid. He did great in Origin , but there is no way he forces Munster or Cleary out if all are fit and well. Fuck Mal and Justin , Parramatta pay his wages and he didn't earn them this year.
Well that is it Wiz, only way he can not play is saying he is still injured. Within the laws of the RLPA and the League, a player can only refuse to play rep footy if they are either injured or retired. Moses, if he chose to sit out, would find it easy to prove he is doing rehab getting ready for pre-season.
I do understand if people, like yourself, do not like it. I am not going to say you are wrong or anything either as you have a legitamate point.
Moses can easily say he's not fit after the rehab he's had. Thing is all season he's been telling Meninga he's racing the clock to play for him. So Moses's priorities are playing for Australia so even if he's not 100% , whats the odds he'll rule himself out ?
I do not see it likely, especially if Meninga says he will be starting. If he says Dearden is the 6, Moses might not bother.
But let's be fair too, not everyone but most people here if they had the chance to represent Australia, no matter the season you had, you would take it. Moses will have no issue what so ever proving he is rehabing as he can do extra's but again this is his only chance, do you 100% blame the bloke? Again, you have a point and if he decided to pull out i am happy for him.
Meh, he's beating up on weaker teams, this is kinda just offseason practice. Idm
Yes, inclined to agree Chief, just as much chance doing an ACL in the preaseason, at the stage of his career another orf seezun is nothing to get excited about, whereas this competetion is good prep. I would be more concerned if he had just played a full season and he was backing up!
Nice to see Tom Weaver getting into that role via the orf seezun.
