Eels considered moving Semi

PARRAMATTA coach Brad Arthur says that after toying with the idea of moving the human semi-trailer, blockbusting winger Semi Radradra, closer to the action in the centres he has decided to leave him in the outside lane – because he does too good a job there to risk changing things.“We’ve toyed with the idea of moving Semi into the centres, but, you know, two years running he has got Dally M winger of the year and he’s the leading try-scorer (last season),” Arthur says.“It’s something we’ve thought about, but then we went through and had a look at all the tries scored on his edge and he has scored tries that if you move someone else to his position you probably don’t score those tries.“His finishing ability is outstanding, he averages over 150 metres returning the ball out of the backfield every game, his involvement is 20-plus (carries) every week in terms of his numbers, so we just need him to probably continue to do that for us at this stage.“As long as we’ve got some good boys inside him who give him the ball in those positions, he’ll stay on the wing.”Imo another season on the wing is needed then they could switch him to centres IF there aren't any good ones in that position.

  • If he played centre he would have to make more tackles, plus make less carries from the back. He already comes infield for some shift plays. It's perfect for him.
    • Totally agree with you. Keep him wing, don't weaken one position to strengthen another. As you said, he comes in often enough for some damaging runs.
  • He had been playing centre in attack quite a bit this season, he still does less defence on the wing and we get his runs from dummy half from our own end.   Why change something that isn't broken???

  • why wven think about it his finisher he got taka inside him works great they worked well  in 2015 only get betterother side gurtherson centres fafimo on wing he can finish it off too hole seen faraimo turn into a great player why everyone forget about faraimo for

    • I agree Faraimo is a very good attacking winger Scott.
    • Because great coaches always try to innovate and move their team forward.
  • Pou Scott was obviously talking in your native language if you understood him.

Actually Semi already plays in the centre occasionally with Taka on the wing, not sure why unless Taka injured, and does a decent job there in attack, don't remember him defending there thou. Could make a very good centre, and get a pay rise, we just need someone similar to him to play on the wing.

    • A winger that makes 20 carries a game and finishes as well as he does is worth as much as any centre. I would pay Semi as much as any of them.
As for understanding Scott, I am fluent in dyslexic.
  • Semi may be a winger but he involves himself in runs out our half
So he does see a lot more action than an average winger.
  • I'd love to see him fill in at fullback one day to see how he would go.
Seeing him with a heap of space and time to hit top gear would be awesome.
