Eels confirm Premiers for opening home game

The Parramatta Eels have today confirmed the first Blue and Gold home game of 2017, against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at ANZ Stadium in Round Four of the NRL Telstra Premiership.

The Eels will go head to head with the 2016 Premiers at ANZ Stadium with kick off at 7:00 pm on Saturday 25 March, 2017.

The Round Four clash will be a feature in the Blue and Gold calendar, as the Eels celebrate their 70th Anniversary of the Club’s entry into the competition, with a big day of activities and celebrations planned to mark the occasion.

The clash against the Premiers will be the Club’s first home game at ANZ Stadium in 2017, and the first opportunity for the Blue and Gold Army to see the Eels in action at the new home stadium.

The Sharks are also celebrating their 50th Anniversary season in 2017.

The full 2017 NRL Telstra Premiership Draw will be announced tomorrow (11:15am, Thursday 24 November, 2017), with full details on the Eels season, including eleven (11) home games at ANZ Stadium and one (1) home game in Darwin.

Tickets for the match will go on sale in mid-February — however, you can secure your seat now by becoming a Parramatta Eels 2017 Member. Click here to join the Blue and Gold Army!

  • The thing is when you think about it is we have no home games for the next 2 years, we are really away every game, ANZ isn't and never will be our home ground and it won't feel like it either, it will always feel like we are away from home for the next 2 years until we get back to the new Eel pit.

And that might just be a very good thing for the team, getting out of our comfort zone and getting used to playing away every week, just what the Dr ordered imo.

  • Very very surprised that they got rid of the Easter Monday game vs Tigers. This Sharks game is during the Easter weekend. Club must have pushed very hard for this to get it.
    • Isn't Easter mid April?
    • The Easter Weekend this season is Round 3, the week before
    • Tigers round 3
  • Yep Easter is in April this year lol

  • At least if we win we can say we would have won the comp had we not been booted for secret payments to players that barely played for us (or were in England) anyway.
    • no we could not 2017 and 2016 team are going to be 2 very different team, 2017 will have probably our biggest forward pack in 5 plus years should be good things next year

    • Haha yeah I know teams change dramatically. Especially the Sharks without 2/3 of their spine.
  • I stand corrected - looked at the 2016 Easter dates not 2017. Easter is the week before this game in 2017

"To me, Talagi seems sluggish. Has those slow muscles like his brother. Hopefully other parts of his game will develop and make up for it. Still only young though...
