He's only 29 currently, he's not going to cost a heap of money I'd say around the 400k mark. Solid nrl player someone you'd want in your top 30 I think. They need to make a fair few of these types of signings but as they have gotten rid of a lot of experience
He will be 30 by seasons end. I just feel this spot could be for juniors. Only thing i think of with this is bringing in somone who has won comps, he has 2, and someone who knows the standards of winning.
Yeah I think they need a few more of these signings with all the players they've cut loose. But also you right will need to extend young players who are in the 17 right now to. Eventually but will need a marquee type signing to go with Mitch
I think I got that wrong in translation HKF. Yes we do need an edge forward, a marquee edge backrower, not Garner. With Kautoga and Samrani improving, and Williams showing he is a better on an edge than in the middle, plus Tuilagi and our juniors coming through, one marquee signing should be enough. We definitely need a couple of good middle forwards though, that is our weakness at the moment.
If we paid twice what you think he is worth, would that change your bargain basement approach.
Try stopping and considering the player, he is good enough to have played in a couple of GF winning sides, that appears pretty good to me if we cannot get better.
Lets use Kurt Mann as an example he just played a "good game" of origin for Qld, he was a journeyman and a soldier for most of his career, the fact that he is over 30 shows the age thing is only a perception to address. ASk me 12 months ago and I would not have given him the time of day.....I was wrong so I open my mind to the mistakes I make when pre judging people.
The negativity that constantly pervades this site is stunning. My guess 50% of the people making judgement on him would know him if they fell over him and just follow the negativity of the previous poster.
If he is good as we can get and better than what we have, we should go for him.....simple really.
"I'm trying to understand the reasoning behind us chasing experience when we've just let all of our experience go.
RCG, Gutho, Sivo, Brown, Cartwright, Ofa, likely Matterson and likely Lane.
Either there was deemed to be a cultural problem with all…"
"Amazing that a team leading the comp is still buying players before June 30 and yet, at the Eels, we've released almost half a squad and still cant sign a player, even if that player wanted to pay us to play.
What a mess we are."

Do we need to offer three years? He will be 31 when he joins us.
We saved up money for this? The hell.

$400k id prefer promote a jnr on $200k then this bum!
Let us be forever grateful that we will never have any reliance on what you prefer Merken.
What?, how are we fine for edge forwards?, it's our biggest need along with front rowers.

Same old, same old bargain basement approach. Absolute joke!
