  • 3 years i feel is too much.

Positives: Flexible as he can play Centre, Edge and middle. Defensively sound, won 2 comps so knows the standards it takes to win.

Negaitves: 30 this year, 33 at the end of his deal. History of injury.

Overall if we signed him for rest of this year and 2026 or 2026 and 2027 i would say ok fair enough as depth and a bench option not bad. If he was signed in the middle or end of our recruitment for 2026 i think many would receive this fine but since we have gutted this squad and freed up money the expectation has hit and we've signed a depth type player.

    • I don't think we need him as depth. Samrani, Tuilagi, Latu is your depth. De Stradis, Jez and others coming through as well. We need a quality starting backrower, especially if we plan to use Williams as a middle.
also 3 years for a depth signing is stupid. Your locking down a top 30 spot when we are meant to be a development club lol

      • He can also play centre at a high level as well but, panthers have used him there routinely. Can't really go wrong with that type of signing imo

      • Only thing he offers from Latu and Tuilagi, not Samrani, is his flexibility. He can play middle also. And he has won comps.

Just cannot get on board with 3 years. 1-2 years I am ok with.

        • Agree but looks like they are going to be targeting players who are looking for extensions but other clubs aren't extending. Better players then what will be available end of year off contract

        • What about 6 to 8 months

  • I don't mind Gardner. Was very good at tigers.  I think our game will suit him. Hopefully coming now. I prefer on the edge.

  • Just checked the calendar to see if it was April 1. Garner is passed his best and not what is needed for now or the future. MON  got to do a lot better. Sounds like a desperate move. Rather look at some younger players and try them. Waste of salary cap

  • If you are gonna sign players they either need to be:

A).better than what you have/had, or

    B) are young and have potential

    Garner is neither.

  • Dear god no.

What's the point of getting rid of players who are past their best only to replace them with players who are past their best.

This club is a circus run by a bunch of fucking clowns.

"It's a lift the floor not ceiling exercise if they sign Garner.
The flaw of this squad is lateral agility and inexperience i guess if they do get Garner over the line it's a win I guess.
For me he's a poor man's Luke Capewell type of signing."
