Eels cashed up - 2.8 million to spend

* I'll edit this later, short of time  - but how much cap space does the club have for 2026.

Gutherson  950k

RCG. 900k

Sivo 550 k

Cartwright 480 k

Werimu  200k

D Brow  950 k

Signings for 2025

Iongi. 400k

Williams 400k

That leaves a 2026  bankroll at around 3 million.   Is this close to the Mark?

Are there any other players on the outer ?

Also, I haven't taken Moses's pay rise into consideration  - maybe 200k pa..  What i think may have happened with the required 2025 spend shortfall is that we've paid out Moses's increases this season,  meaning he'll be on 2 million for 2025  T he club will have the full cap spend for 2026.

That leaves the club with 2.8 million in the black

  • I don't think we have both Flufferson and Reg's coin mate .  We upgraded a bunch of bananas and no doubt also just have given Moses a sneaky little pay rise.  FOX woudve taken Sivos coin.

edit - just saw you mentioned Moses pay rise..

    • Pretty sure Fox ($250k) is on half Sivo's ($500k). We were able to lowball him because he had no other offers.

  • you forgot Lomax, Addo Carr and other fringe 1st graders they signed:

    - Joash

    - Samrani

    - Volkman

    - Hawkins

    - Smith

They're not in massive coin but they still from part of the cap and Moses has been upgraded.

All in all, we've freed up cap space with Dylan leaving for sure.

    • Moses and Hopgood both upgraded aswell

    • Lomax was already signed before we started releasing dead wood. So you'd assume he's covered.

    • I'd say these guys are all on around the $150-200k mark. Just enough to pull them away from their current club.

  • I think we paid a bit for the privilege of releasing Gutho (just a hunch)

  • Plus if we can offload Matto and/or Lane that's another mil there.

But here is the thing MON and Ryles need to decide on and quickly, do they invest a lot of coin on a great Five-Eighth or invest most of that money in the forwards despite the market of forwards being very slim?

KPP is an option, even then he is still reletively raw and unproven in NRL. Only way we can get value in the market is from players getting released which is not easy to do. All well and good having the money, but we have to spend it for the year and if we cannot get anyone worthwhile on board waht is the point.

    • I think we are definitely short of an elite forward or two. The ones we have are at the back end of their careers and seem to be floundering somewhat. With Moses and a few good backups we can afford to have a rookie 5/8, and I think that's the way Ryles will go. He has already shown in 2 weeks that he is prepared to send out rookies into the NRL to give them experience.

"Chief, you didn't come across as downplaying Eli's injury, sometimes finding some humour elsewhere helps - was a good one.
It is horrific for Eli."

"I agree with this but I don't think Tino needs 1.4 to sign. I think we will end up with either of these two guys. Storm make the most sense for Tino but I reckon we'd be next in line. 900k would get either of these two, Tino would want 5 years…"

"Hey Pops,
Great post. Ryles would obviously have to have a huge impact on a player 'wanting to be here' as you say, he'd be a large part of that pitch & strategy process.
I could be very wrong Pops, but in the past at the Eels we've seen the coach &…"
