Another Telecrap beat up???
PARRAMATTA'S form over the next month will determine Daniel Anderson's future at the Eels, with the board starting to fracture over the coach.
At least two directors on the seven-person board are now picketing their counterparts for change in the wake of last weekend's heavy loss to New Zealand that has the pre-season favourites in real danger of an embarrassing finals no-show.
Anderson actually fronted both the football and leagues club boards during the week before the Warriors game to detail his recruitment plans for 2011, a presentation that was generally well recieved.
One director, however, was strident in his questioning of the team's performance and attitude this year and the immediate defeat at Auckland has only inflamed those concerns. He doesn't believe Anderson deserves credit for the Eels' glorious grand final run last year, because the coach privately confessed his doubts over the team's ability to make the finals just a few weeks before they finally clicked.
There's now been a behind-the-scenes push for an extraordinary meeting to vote on Anderson's position should the Eels fall to a fourth-straight defeat against the cellar-dwelling Cowboys at home on Monday night. Stephen Kearney, Ricky Stuart and even Jason Taylor - who led the Eels to the 2006 finals as caretaker coach - have been mentioned as possible replacements.
But with Anderson still enjoying the support of chairman Roy Spagnolo and CEO Paul Osborne, any immediate meeting is unlikely to be convened unless things truly come unstuck this weekend.
Just as he did earlier in the week, Spagnolo again gave Anderson his backing when contacted yesterday but conceded he had not canvassed all board members about their feelings.
"We had the meeting and afterwards I thanked Daniel for his presentation and told him he had our full support," Spagnolo said.
The chairman, however, might well change his tune should Parramatta not improve over the next month. After winning a bitter and emotionally exacting war for control of the club last April, Spagnolo's board is up for re-election in the next eight months. They are all too aware of the demands of Eels members, who are unlikely to smile upon their team missing the finals after such a high-profile recruitment drive during the off-season.
The other side of the coin is the considerable payout Parramatta would be forced to absorb for sacking the coach a year early. Anderson is managed by Jim Banaghan, an old-school agent who will make no bones about demanding every cent his client is owed.
All I ask for is why dont these so called board members who are (or maybe not) saying this man up and be named. Ozzie and Spag have manned up why don these other directors do the same???

Hopefully they do soon!
Q) How many coaches look secure at any club when their team is performing badly for an extended period of time?
A) Very few.
Q) How many clubs have the balls to stick with a coach as he is rebuilding a team but losing too often?
A) Maybe one or two. eg Panthers and Elliott.
Q) WHY DO WE GIVE ANY CREDENCE TO THE DELIBERATE "KILL PARRA" CAMPAIGN BEING WAGED BY THE DT?
A) I haven't got a clue.
"Anderson actually fronted both the football and leagues club boards during the week before the Warriors game to detail his recruitment plans for 2011, a presentation that was generally well received."
What does this actually mean though??? I could front up to the board and stand there and say "OK, here's my recruitment plan for next season - I'm just waiting for the Storm to let Cronk and Inglis go and I'm going to get BOTH of them!". That would be well received too. But as near as I can tell, a lot of this 'recruiting' that DA is planning is well and truly out of his hands and beyond his control. UNLESS! Unless there is alot more to what we are hearing with regard to Cronk and the club, that is both DA, Ozzy and the Board are supremely confident that we have got Cronk in the bag.
I guess what I'm getting at is, what if DA manages to recruit none of the players he earmarked in his address to both boards? Do they turn around say, "Mate, we thought you were going to get Player X and Player Y but you missed out them. What are your plans now?". From the outside looking in, DA's future seems to be precariously placed and will depend somewhat on who joins the squad between now and pre-season training. Seems a strange way to conduct business, that is, on hypothetical's and maybe's...
We can but hope!
All that said - I reckon all 1Eyed Eel members should get on us to win 13+ on Monday!!!
It is now confirmed that the Parramatta Eels Boardroom is in such a mess that the club has resorted to employing someone to clean it up. Ina the cleaner told the Telecrap exclusively that she has been working at the club for several months to clean the place up. When asked about the problems with the boardroom Ina said “every meeting after is big mess and I must clean. They give me job to do this but they don’t pay me money enough, they saving that for Storm players which I like my home is from Melbourne” Ina also fills in as a Manager of the leagues club to make ends meet and is a massive Storm fan.
