Our mighty Eels set a record in 2001, scoring 839 points in attack across 26 rounds.
Fast forward 20 years...
The Storm currently sit on 538 points with 9 rounds to play, including matches against Penrith, Parra, Manly and the Roosters.
Is our record in danger?
I think maybe. The Storm need 33.5 points per game to do it. With so many blow outs and even top teams conceding plenty on occasions, it creates a fascinating subplot.

If my memory serves me correct, back in 2001 we were (aswell as best defence in the comp) we were one of the only teams racking up high scores where as this year there are a handle full which are scoring high range
This record will be smashed with the new rules this year of years to come
2001 ... see HERE for the Ladder after 26 rounds.
Eels and Knights only teams who scored 30+ per game in 2001.
In 2021 there are currently two teams scoring 30+ a game (Storm, Panthers). Eels at 29 per game, Roosters on 28 per game.
If Storm score at their current rate (36 pg) over the final 10 round (9 games, as there is a bye), that is 538 + 324 = 862. Minimum per game score averaged over 9 rounds: they need 33.5 pg to reach 840.
Storm play: Rorters, Bye, Knights, Cowboys, Panthers, Moanly, Raiders, Titans, Eels, Sharks.
I'm more focused on the Eels avoiding dropping out of the Top 4 and down to 6th, as the Eels will need to beat their direct competitors for a Top 4 berth just to secure that Top 4 berth: Panthers, Bye, Titans, Raiders, Rorters, Bunnies, Moanly, Cowboys, Storm, Penrith.
Wow that's a tough run to the finals. We might limp into the finals, but I'm hoping we learn a few things and power on through them.
Nice break down of the stats, Prof. Looking more closely at the Storm's run, I am doubtful they can average the 33.5.
Like you, I've also been looking ahead the final couple of months of the draw, The good news is we have beaten who we should have beaten (all but St George). But can we stand up against the top teams? Time will tell...
Daz, we've been talking about the horror to come for weeks. There's danger we could drop out of the top 4, by the end. We'll need to mentally toughen up, beat a few top teams, & have some luck with injuries. The last 2 rounds could be where it's all on the line.
I've worked out Parra to end up 5th, just missing top 4.
Yeah I reckon 5th or 6th is most likely. It means we get a home final against the Sharks or some other shit side. Win that and you never know your luck in week 2. Hopefully the Storm and Panthers both win in week 1 and we don't have to play them. It'll all be good preparation for 2022.
Yea funny that it's probably the only way to get to a GF prelim. Saying that I can see the Roosters dropping a game on purpose for that very reason.
They shouldn't even consider this years scores due to the fact of the ridiculous new rule of 'six again' and 'sin bin' which has allowed scores to blow out of proportion.
