Edwards: De Gois Will Boost Eels

Dyldam Parramatta Eels second-rower Kenny Edwards says new recruit Isaac De Gois will fit straight in against the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

“Obviously Goisy has been around for awhile and he’s pretty experienced so I think he’ll be right and fit in well with our shape that we play,” Edwards said.

“We haven’t changed one thing with De Gois coming along and we’re really looking forward to Goisy adding to what we’ve got.”

With a season-ending injury leaving Nathan Peats on the sidelines, Edwards believes De Gois is a perfect replacement for the fierce hooker.

“Peatsy is a bit of an angry bloke and I haven’t really gotten to know Isaac yet but he’s quiet – he looks like a bit of an angry bloke too,” he said.

“Luke [Kelly] played there on the weekend and I thought he went well, but we were lacking in our depth at hooker and it’s awesome to have De Gois get on board.”

Parramatta will be coming up against a Canterbury-Bankstown side with a big forward pack, and despite both teams missing Origin players from their backline, Kenny believes the battle up front will win the match.

“It’s a massive test for our forward pack this week – they’ve got a big forward pack over there in Greg Eastwood and Sam Kasiano so the boys are looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

“Brad [Arthur] has laid down the challenge for us and hopefully we can pull through this weekend.”

  • we get beat

  • Goisy? Hey Goisy!!! Hey Eddy!
  • Peats: angry, angry young man.

  • De gois is a good option because he will keep the ruck defence tight like peats was doing. He won't be a separate option in attack like peats was but we have enough options there to still be potent
  • Good to see De Gois has been accepted into the side with the affectionate nickname, "Goisy", being given to him.

    • They thought real hard about that one.
  • Don't know about you guys, but I feel more confident of our chances with De Gois there rather than Kelly.

  • Me too.
    Nothin like a tight ruck.
  • Nothing against Edwards, but what is it with nrl players obsession with the word "obviously" It's the most overused word in league at the moment.

"I think the disappointing part for Pensini was the poor defence last week against Melbourne. Yes everyone was shit. But he missed a one on one tackle for Leo to score. He also got burned in the frist half by Leo but Iongi saved the day."
