Earl to return to NRL

PARRAMATTA are considering throwing Sandor Earl a lifeline should he be cleared to resume his career next season.Earl has had an appeal heard at the NRL and, if successful, will be allowed to play again in 2016.The former Raiders and Panthers winger was the one player to ‘roll over’ when the ASADA scandal exploded, rocking the game in 2013.He agreed to assist ASADA with their investigation - and was given a four year ban for his troubles.Earl’s legal team is hoping to have the ban halved, clearing him to return next season.Earl has had talks with the Eels and has kept in top shape while living in Thailand for the past 18 months.

  • I'd take him. Could be a good option on the wing if he gets back into shape, if he doesn't work out then I imagine it'd be a 1 year deal with an option so no huge risk.
  • ^^ I agree. He was decent before he was sacked. If he has his head screwed on now, he could be a decent option. My guess is he'll only be used as a backup, but certainly a very handy one.
  • As i scooped 6 months ago and numerous times since then, we have been in contact with him for over 12 now apparently, this is a very good chance of happening, and he was a quality player, im all for it, who knows how he will be after 4 years but im a big fan.

  • I've never liked the bloke but always appreciated the way he could score a try. I think a 1 year deal would be good. Give him a chance to fire up and stick it to the NRL.
  • If true he would be a great buy, has speed to burn, good finisher and can hit the ball up hard. If he is allowed to come back and play he will have a lot to prove

  • Yeah certainly hard done by, by the NRL. The Sharks players got to work off their ban during the offseason. I guess technically the charges were different though.
    Hopefully his ban is reduced.
  • I really hope this is true . A enormous talent this kid is . Had s the potential to be s Blake Ferguson type player , smart move parra
  • Possibly - but I'm sure he's been cured of his ping pong ball addiction....

  • Parramatta - where the Earls lie down....

  • I could cop a Sandor to be honest. Shares a name with a great character from A Song of Ice and Fire (or Game of Thrones for the TV only crowd) but if I recall correctly Earl insists for whatever reason that there is a silent 'h' in there somewhere to end up with S(h)andor Earl.
