No use sugar coating this, I see the Roosters are releasing a few players this year, and maybe a few in the future, I don't see them going at anything other than top talent. They are ruthless & will release any player to get their man, they recruit talent, not rejects from other clubs, we need to be better.Â
Geeze, if there's one player who deserves a contract it's Walker. Feels like our attack comes alive when he's on and our halves get connected to the ball much better. I don't see Hopgood, Guymer or Doorey as good Lock options, and are better suited to the forwards as runners. While Guymer does offer flexibility, he doesn't really break the line much and is easy to get down.
I think Hopgoods the guy at 13 is first year here his ball playing nd off loading was on point. Now that his role has changed he's had to put it ll away.I've kind of always thought Hopgood was the future 13 going foward and that's the guy I'd be putting back there.
The worry is we need those middles to come through and we need to hit on Talataina at 6 so we only have to go to market for outside backs.
The other problem is he is our best defensive forward by a hundred yards (he is the missing ingredient this year to last year with our defensive patterns) so it makes it hard to be a ball playing lock and our best defensive player....btw I agree Lock is his natural position....the other thing to take into account is when switched to the front row last year, he really came good and met that defensive upgrade we re/acquired. Can we find another Hoppy to go with the original?
Dylan walker has been good for us but prob only has a year or 2 left so has to take money on offer now. He hasn't been as good this year so probably realises waiting till his contract is up may be too late to get decent money in England..
Not sure what we have coming through but Kurt Donohue is a competitor who can play hooker, 5/8 or lock so would be great replacement for Walker and probably get more game time at parra.Â
There are better players around but we can't attract them so need to look at who is being underutilised.
Dolphins have players like Plath playing origin who will want contract upgrades. They also have players like Farnworth, Hammer, Flegler, Finefeuiaki, Lemuelu, Bostock, Cobbo only signed up to 2027 who will need new contracts so can see the dolphins as a club who may release some established players to free up cap space.
Sure he has had a couple of soft weeks but surprised by this. Our recruiters must be a bit more positive about signing versatile  new blood than I am actually.Â

"Why weaken the Fullback position just to make 6 slightly better? Fullback more important to have right and with a great Fullback, having an ok 6 is reasonable."
"Was so surprised to see Joash has been called to the blues training squad! Apparently as Daley sees him as a future origin player.Â
"Four extra players were added to the squad and will train with the side for the next two days.
Parramatta rookie…"

Yeah can see this being a contract for him to retire o; and yeah good on him.
As others have said we had better have some decent signings in the pipeline for 27 or we are going to be in for more pain aka Clubber Lang styles...

Maybe looking at Connor Watson?
I see him as a bit of a ball hog this year. Not distributing well. Goes hard but I doubt we go after him.Â

We are missing his defence a lot as you have said. Him and Smith together used to clean up a lot of tackles last yearÂ
