Dylan Brown

He is back and still not signed past next year. Is he going to market or is Parra try to get an idea of his back injury?

He reminds me a lot of Foran - a young Foran before the crash. He and Moses seem to complement each other and Brown has enormaous potential. But how much can we pay for potential for a young half back that is way too young to be the dominant halfback. Warriors have bid overs for a lot of players and not got many. They went overs o Dylan at $600K a year and it still seems like overs now. Should we match that illegal past offer or is it too much. Likely to be a million dollar half at some stage but not now. Early stage and uncertainty over his back, I would have thought $350K is fair value for 2020 and could add $100K for each subsequent year. So if wanted to take a chance on a long term contract then $3m over 5 years is probably OK. But I have a feeling it will be a three year contract.

Anyone have any idea what is happening or what his market value would be?

    • I think that you are on the money HKF. If we want to keep him we will have to pay overs. Time for the recruitment team to make a decision and back their judgment

I am sure they will have a handle on it either way

      • agree we need to just bite the bullet

As I was trying to argue, although $350K may be more appropriate in 2020, an average of $600K per season from 2021 to 2025 is probably not overs if he goes as expected and no significant injuries (back). in 6 years he will probably be earning over $1m anyway and $600K would be unders.

      • If we have to pay it, and more importantly are willing to pay it, then its not overs under the current contracting system. But it is a classic case of why the system needs to be overhauled to prevent teams from throwing the bank at young players who have yet to prove themselves.

        • How could you possibly overhaul the system to prevent adults from earning what they can? If you try and cap their salaries because they're young the best ones will all go to the ESL or different sports.

          • It would involve a radical renegotiation of the CBA, and I have gone over this a thousand times, literally I think.

doesn't sound great - no idea what club he will be at in 5 years. At least it is unscripted so probably nothing decided yet.

      • Think people are reading too much into it. Sounded to me like he was just trying not to be cocky and hypthetically  saying something 'i see myself tearing up the nrl' ..

instead he downplayed it and said 'hopefully in the nrl at a club' sorta thing. It'll all work out.

He's not the most media savvy dude going around thats for sure. He's got a lot to learn on and off the field like all young dudes.

      • Or maybe his manager put him up to it

  • I really think Brown and Moses make a good combination for each other. BA just needs to manage it so they are both happy as they are opposites in many ways
